Oklahoma House Advances Legislation Banning Sharia Law
just got home and got this wonderful thing in the email!

March, 2010

OKLAHOMA CITY – "State lawmakers have voted to allow Oklahoma voters to prevent judicial rulings in foreign countries from impacting local court decisions through approval of the "Save Our State" constitutional amendment.
House Joint Resolution 1056, by state Rep. Rex Duncan, would allow Oklahomans to vote to amend the Oklahoma Constitution to require the courts to "uphold and adhere to the law" as provided in the United States Constitution, the Oklahoma Constitution, the United States Code and federal regulations, Oklahoma Statutes and rules, and established common law.
The proposed amendment would prohibit all Oklahoma courts from considering the legal precepts of other nations or cultures, even in cases of first impression.
"Unfortunately, some judges in other states and on the federal bench have begun to cite international law in their court decisions, effectively undermining our own democratic system of government," said Duncan, a Sand Springs Republican and attorney who chairs the House Judiciary Committee. "Our nation’s laws were developed through a democratic process and should not be undermined by haphazard reliance on foreign rulings developed in autocratic societies. Oklahoma court decisions should be based on the U.S. Constitution, Oklahoma Constitution, and our state and national laws—period."
The proposed amendment declares that courts "shall not consider international law or Sharia Law."

THANK GOODNESS OUR ENTIRE STATE LEGISLATOR IS REPUBLICAN, AND THE CITIZENS OF OKLAHOMA WILL VOTE THIS INTO LAW! AND DAMN OBAMACARE TO HELL WE ARE GOING TO FIGHT IT TO DEATH HERE IN OKLAHOMA!

I doubt Syariah laws will have any grounds in Oklahoma seeing as it is unanimously a Christian state.

But you're right. No doubt one should respect the law of the land. So, I do solemnly ask the foreign white ambassadors to STFU when we execute the American/Australian and I think there was one French dude as well by death penalty for drug trafficking in MY country. We shall not consider international law or especially, the white man's law.

Aren't private citizens-- or those on non-governmental business subject to the host country's laws, and therefore, when those laws are broken, are to be judged by the host country?
I'm probably completely misinterpreting things... but it seems logical to me.
And I'm actually kind of surprised an American ambassador would say something when it comes to drug trafficking-- unless it was something like the American was "framed," with a few insults about barbarians, incomprehension of "a fair trial by peers," etc.

I can't recall the exact incident about the American trafficker who got hung but here's the Australian version.

One would think with this serving as an example, people would not try to mess around with our judicial system. Well, potheads will be potheads.

haha religion does not effect us like that ^_^ it can effect us if the judge is crazy enough to consider international law seriously, that is very dangerous when they do that here!

if they do the drug trafficking game or something else like that, punishment should be fitting considering the country ^_^ though i would also think that as in some countries cutting off a person's arm for stealing would be going a bit far but then i say Americans do not steal in those middle east nations!
