He's you know what now? Or are you talking about the Ball?

And I don't think he'd kill you. Not at all. Should I wear a tie?

Wait, what? No! He's Charlie. I'm talking about.. the other thing. And the Ball, too, I suppose.

You sure? And a tie, for what? Are you still talking about the Ball?

Right! You and him kissing. By the way, how was that?

A tie for you funeral. Oh just kidding! He won't murder you. At least I hope not. I mean, why would he be upset with you anyway? It's not like he's the one going on a date.

It was kind of soft and wa Stewart, go away! Why are you asking me that!?

And that's not funny! If he kills me, I'm coming back to haunt you!! And wait, hey, why would he get upset about going on a date? How is that upsetting? Should I be worried? I'm worried

Aw, Melanie you don't really mean that, do you? And I was just curious!

Sorry! Bad joke, don't have a heart attack! And I would be devestated if he killed you. Really I would. And I mean that he shouldn't be upset with you about you going on a date. There's nothing wrong with dates, Melanie. I'm sure you'll both have a good time. Promise!!!

The go away part? No, I don't really. You can stay around as long as you want! As long as you stop asking awkward those questions, though.

Would you cry if I died? I don't want you to cry, Stewie, okay? And alright, I'll take your word for that. Nothing wrong. Good.

Thank you Melanie, I adore you too. And I was just curious! I mean you said yes to him for a reason, I'm just wondering why. Not that you have to have a reason, but that's all.

I probably would, but I don't really want to think about that Mel. After all! You're breathing and everything's fine. Great.

I said yes because he asked me and he was nice about it and I really, really like him and he and I and I like him, okay? There, I said it! Happy? I really like him and he said he liked me, too. That's great, right? That he never really hated me?

Hello Melanie, how was your day? I'm here, and I'm not busy, at all really— just watching Malcolm play chess with himself.

Have you come up with any costume ideas? I'm coming up blank myself. I do suppose I can just go in my dress robe, they're nice enough after all. I wanted to dress up though.

Oh, and since the topic has been brought up, I don't like to praise myself but I'm a fair dancer.

Hey! My day was boring. I almost wish I had signed up for more classes, so I didn't have all this free... wait, he's playing chess with himself? How does that work, exactly? Like... he makes a move, stands up, moves to the other side of the table and... attacks himself?

I haven't! I owled my mum on Monday, anyway, and asked her for ideas and I got a reply from my brother today during breakfast and he said he liked my idea of dressing up as a tangerine! But then he suggested a costume made of cardboard box, so I don't know how serious he was. My other brother (Ethan, the nice one, remember?) also sent me a letter and said I could go as a Quidditch player. He suffers from Quidditch-itis, though, so I'm really not surprised about his suggestion. But, yeah, I don't know yet. I guess I could go in my dress robes, I wouldn't mind, but I have to check if I actually packed them before coming back to school. Hmm.

Why do I Oh. Okay. Good for you? Who are you dancing with?

I had double Defence Against the Dark Arts this morning. Snape wasn't too much fun to be around, but then again when is he ever? I suspect he's still mourning the fact that Prince chose Filch instead of him. But it's good that you have free time, I don't think you'd be as energetic as you are with more classes. I can hardly keep up with everything, and when I'm not I'm thin—. And yes, he's playing chess with himself. He just sits and tells the pieces what to do, it's really quite amusing. I'm not very good at chess though so I usually sit out.

How would a tangerine work as a cardboard box though? I suppose you could paint an orange circle on the side but wouldn't something round work better? And yes, I haven't seen him in a while though. How's he doing? You also know that you could borrow my Quidditch robes if you wanted to. That way your mum wouldn't have to make anything up. I was just running my mouth the other day, sorry about that. I honestly think that be an excellent costume on you, wonderfully ironic. And I'm so glad they gave us the option of dress robes. What colour are yours?

Well I might not be up to date on customs, but when someone asks someone to a ball they generally dance? We don't have to of course, but I just though I should let you know so you wouldn't worry about me stepping on your toes, as the saying goes.

I still say we find him a date! Do you think Professor Sinistra might be interested? Well, no. I reckon no one would be interested, hey? Hah, but we could always try! And okay, okay, that makes sense, I guess. We should play chess sometimes, I'm totally bollocks at it!

Well, I could be a squared tangerine! That'd be rather unique, don't you think? And Ethan's doing great! He writes to me regularly because he's really bored of being home by himself - says he can't wait to start his first year here at Hogwarts and do you really mean that!? That would be so wicked! If I could borrow your robes, I mean. Some people might not find it funn People would never expect me to show up as a Quidditch player, would they? My newest robes are cranberry pink, but I used to have yellow ones and turquoise ones, too!

You-- I-- Date? Oh. Oh, Charlie! I'm not worried about my toes. I'm worried about yours! I can't dance. I'm an awful dancer. You'd hate me if you danced with me, so I think it'd be best if you found an-- it'd be best if you found another partner so maybe you should find another partner? Or not.

Sinistra? Maybe, although you're right—we need to find the right woman for the job. And once he's infatuated with them, he'll obviously forget to be horrible to us. And I'd love to play chess with you. Do you think they'd yell at us during study hall if I brought a set? I mean it's not like we do anything there anyway. Or maybe you and I could stay after one of these days when we both have free time.

What would you do for your head though? And yes, that'd probably be the most unique costume at the Ball. I'm glad to hear so! Hopefully he'll enjoy the castle well. Of course I mean it, without a doubt. I suppose its obvious if you go as a Slytherin Quidditch player, I should go as a Hufflepuff. Hah. I don't think anyone would expect that at all, though it'd be quite refreshing. And the fact that your dress robes are so colourful compared to everyone else's is very refreshing. I'm sure they look lovely on you.

Don't be ridiculous. There isn't a single person in this whole castle who I want to go with besides you. Did I just say that? I don't think I could hate you, especially for something as trivial as dancing. Like I said we don't have to, or if you'd prefer we could practice beforehand? It's not that difficult, especially if you have someone that can lead.

I say we put an add in The Prophet! And if we get lots of replies, we can choose the nicest one for him! Do you reckon he'd appreciate the effort? And I don't think there would be a problem with playing chess during Study Hall if we're done with our homework, but you never know! We could always ask, anyway. Or we could do that.

OH!!! You should DEFINITELY do that, Charlie! Go as a Hufflepuff! It would be so funny, like we've exchanged roles! You'll be me and I'll be you except you'd still be a bloke and I'd still be a girl. And thank you, that's so nice of you. I like wearing colourful clothes.

Do you really mean that? Really? I mean, yeah sure! We could practice, I guess. Or, well, it'd be more like you would be teaching me... and wait, sorry. Lead where?

I definitely think the prophet would suffice. But do you think that someone nice would hold his attention? And you're right, there's no harm in asking.

I was jo— A Hufflepuff you say? I'll make you a deal, you go in my Quidditch robes, I'll go as a puff, and we dance at least once. That last part's important though. I think it's a great idea. But could I borrow your scarf and tie? I think I'd need to pilfer robes from the laundry though.

When you're dancing, someone leads. Just a name for the person that starts things off, so to speak. And we could definitely practise. You tell me when you have time and I'm there.

Well, it must be someone nice! If we look for someone just like him then we're all doomed!

Excellent!! And just once, right? You won't trick me into dancing more than once? And you can definitely borrow my scarf and tie, I don't have a problem with that!

Oh. Oh, yeah. I knew that! Silly me. I have Wednesdays and Thursdays free, so it's up to you when we can meet up!

Well um it's this thing that Muggles use when their cars break down. When you car breaks down you call a tow truck? So if your toe breaks you call a toe truck?

Um. Right.
