09:19 am - BookCrossing Promotion Team hits the street (X-post from BookCrossing)
molletje leest
Nijmegen, a city close to where I live, used to have two OBCZs (dedicated BookCrossing points of presence, maintained by one or more members). But one is closed now, because the building is being renovated, and it's not likely to open again during this year. So this afternoon, Emmeken, Marsala and I are going 'OBCZ-shopping' in Nijmegen, because we want to find a new spot.
We've got our eye on this place:

It's a café, cinema and theatre rolled into one. They often have live music, too.
So it's a very cultural place, right in the city centre of Nijmegen and we think it would make a great spot for an OBCZ. Let's hope that we're going to be succesfull! We're bringing flyers, website printouts, and of course some nice looking books.
Wish us luck, please.

Oooh... that's just mean, poking into my sensitivities like that! You shouldn't have asked that... it's just mean, it's mean and you're all very very mean! WAAAAAAAHHH!

10:39 pm - More LJ politics. Advisory Board elections coming up.

While I'm not convinced that SUP will actually listen to their Advisory Board (they didn't listen last time, and abolished free Basic accounts while the Advisory Board thought that was a bad idea), I'm still interested in the things that are going on. If you haven't read about the elections, go here.

Furthermore, there's a new community that I think is interesting and worthy of your attention.
In fact, I'd like to encourage you to join this community called [info]ljunited  , a community dedicated to working towards defending and restoring the original promises made to LiveJournal's members, standing up for the free speech of LiveJournal's members, restoring LJ's original strong support for Open Source software, and restoring community participation in the successful operations of LiveJournal.

LJUnited overwhelmingly endorsed [info]rm as their candidate for the upcoming LJ Advisory Board elections. I hope you'll consider supporting her nomination.
My personal reason for supporting her is this:
I read her comments on [info]news  postings, and they were always spot on. They were eloquent and at the same time matched my own views. I feel like she could actually represent me. If you're interested, read what she has to say.
