AU Remix- Running away is not a good plan
And she has been freaking out the past few days. It's not her fault she has no idea what to do. She has been covering up her tracks and hiding evidence of her 'condition'.

And trying to talk herself out of doing something stupid. She wants to run away from this. But she knows that no matter how far she runs she'll have to come back.

So she gives up and flops on the couch and kicks her suitcase in a show of 'maturity'.

	Thomas hops off from her window sill silently, hoping to surprise her. He's in civies with the mask and his usual Robin hairstyle, the usual when he came to visit her casually like this in the middle of the day. Not good. He's trying not to instantly go into 'worst-case scenario' mode but her pacing isn't helping either of them.

"Sarah, sit down." His tone is an attempt to be reassuring but he's trying to figure out what has her in such a panic. He hadn't heard anything about the Maronis that might cause her to be like this.

"Tell me what's going on and I'll see what I can do."

He puts an arm around her and strokes her hair while she curls up quietly. He figures she'll admit whatever it is eventually.

He just didn't think it'd be that.

Thomas's mind goes blank for a very long momment and he just stares across the room in shock.

Of all the worst case scenarios he'd thought of, he hadn't even considered this one. Oh shit. How had this even happened? They'd been careful he was sure of it, just...oh shit. Damn it.

"I promise I won't freak out and flee the country," she says suddenly pulling back so she can look up at him. Six in the morning? The only reason he ever saw that time of day was if he hadn't yet gone to sleep.

"Just..." He sighs and rubs his face with his hands trying to figure this out. It still hasn't sunk in.

"What were you...what did you want to..." He can't even finish his question. This had him blindsided and he needs to know, because what they did was up to her really.

"Okay just...tell me alright?" He's just as lost now, and can't believe he's screwed up enough to let this happen.

Taking her hand, he makes sure she's looking him in the eye. "Whatever you do Sarah. No running." The look he gives her is probably the closest angry glare he can give without it turning into bat glaring.

He's serious though, she can run. But he won't let her.

	She manages to catch him off guard with that. Not that hard in his current state. Trying to smile back at her, he finds he can't really. He's just too stuck in the realization that he'd made a huge blunder. One that shouldn't have happened at all, and could've been avoided. "Well...I'm not letting you run anyway. She pulls back just so she can look at his face. She gibes him a very small smile.

"Okay. I'll just move to one of my safe houses that I know only you know about. So I can stay safe.... And we'll figure out what we can do about the Old Man but don't you dare go all 'Rawr I am the night' and try it on your own. It's dangerous I need you to stay as safe as you can given your calling," she says very seriously.

"It.... it would kill me if you got hurt because you got distracted or something." She kisses him again, this time shyly because she feels so uncertain.

"Good idea, lay low and if they go looking for you I'll deal with it." He seems to mull over her condition, because that had been his exact plan she'd just vetoed. "Don't be silly Foxy. With you out of the game, I have to do it on my own. Besides, your safety is the important one."

He gently kisses her back and tries to give her a reassuring smile. "You already saw, I don't die so easily."

He knew that wasn't a promise he could keep, so he hadn't bothered making it. You didn't take on a mob family that large by yourself pretty much and expect no injuries.

"It's understandable, and I didn't mean you need to know right away. I just wanted you to keep me updated that's all.

He knows he won't get any sleep tonight. Between mapping out scenarios and plans for whatever decision she makes on top of getting her out of this blackmail thing as quickly as possible (his current plan in action wasn't fast enough for this), there'd be no time for sleep.

Oh. Her mind is getting hazy from stress but she still gives him a small thump. "Don't be sorry. This is just..... something that happened. I don't think it's necessarily bad but it's just something that I have no idea what I should do.... and I was very involved in what caused this. So you shouldn't be sorry."

Her speech doesn't come out as eloquent as she would like it to.

Her speech gets a grunt of acknowledgement but not of agreement. While he appreciates her not jumping to blame him, a big part of him thinks she should.

"Yes I should, I ruined things. But...I'll do my best to make things better I promise." He'll try his best to make up for this, even if it comes at large costs to himself. You took responsibility for your mistakes, that's how it was.

Don't...don't worry about anything just leave it to me. It's my responsibility." Of course he'd help her either way, but this meant he'd try and do everything by himself. She didn't need to worry about things, it was his fault after all.
