1. What is your full name?
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. My middle names are family names from either side. Ronald isn't even so bad, but Reuel doesn't even sound like a name. It was my dad's middle name, though, and I'm glad to have it, I guess.

16. What is your earliest memory?
Playing outside with Hilary when we were moving into the new house. I was maybe... four? That was when playing meant watching Hilary totter around in the grass and laughing when he fell over. I like him better now, don't worry.

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Playing outside, climbing trees, holding secret meetings in the treehouse with Hilary and some of the neighbor kids, bringing our comics and story books up to read to each other. I used to talk pig latin to my mother sometimes. It drove her crazy. It was so fun.

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
I wouldn't say popular, but I was well-liked. I tried to be nice to everyone in school. Everyone was nice to each other in elementary school, anyway. But there were a few guys I used to hang out with until I started going to Lowood, yeah. Rob, Geoff, and Chris. I still keep in touch with them, even though we all ended up going to different schools and Rob's family moved away.

28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
I'm not sure I would use the word 'normal' to describe myself. Hahaha. But anyway, I guess my mom was a pretty big influence. She always made sure Hilary and I did our homework and was always buying us new books to read and teaching us little things. And I had a couple of great teachers in elementary in middle school who have kind of influenced my interest in languages and history, that kind of thing.

32. What is your greatest regret?
I try not to do things I'll regret. As for things I haven't done that I regret, I regret not seeing Gran before she died. I got busy with school and my friends and all that other stuff, and then she suddenly had a heart attack and died. It was very selfish of me to not think of her like that.

43. What are your political views?
Socially liberal, ethically conservative, fiscally neutral. So what does that make me?

66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
It depends on the person and the subject. In general? Yeah, I get into arguments pretty easily. But I try to be respectful of the other's view.

73. What is your favorite food?
I'm a guy. We're not that picky. But I'm always good for grilled cheese and tomato soup. I'm pretty sure that's my favorite lunch ever.

78. What makes you laugh?
Lydia. In a good way. I smile a lot more around her than anyone else.
