It's a kind of magic
It had been two days since she had been caught. She should have known better than to accept a dinner invitation from a stranger. She thought she would be safe at a restaurant. In public.

In broad day light. They had used some kind of magic to get her to leave with them. Then they bound her in the magical array they had built in the basement of their leader's mansion. She didn't know what it did. Just that every time they worked their magic she was left screaming.

She hadn't even known magic was real!

She had to get out of here. She just had no idea how. She was so tired and they had left her alone in the basement while thy prepared for the next round of whatever it was they were really trying to do. Gotta stay awake she tells herself. Gotta get out of here somehow.

She just has no idea how.

She does that clasping the metal tightly between her hands. She's looking downwards slightly as the spell is cast.

And she' human. Just a little bit more like Zach. There's not a trace of 'otherness' to her blood line. But whoever her parents were they both came from Old bloodlines of magic and power.

Her mother had used a powerful spell to protect her from being found and from being able to use her magic. But it had been cracking. Her magic had wanted to get out for a very long time.

	Insights come to Zach as the spell comes to fullness. He'd neither shocked nor disappointed by her being mostly human, but her particular flavor of magic is... something exceptional. "Well... that's unusual." He comments, as the spell fizzles out slowly. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Victoria is not an easy person to surprise, and when she is, she is frequently annoyed by it. Fortunately, this is one of the times where she is, if not exactly pleased, at least intrigued instead. Zach politely takes Victoria's clasp from Mina and returns it. "And that's always a step forward. We'll start your lessons soon. Whatever you choose to do with your magic is your business, but at the very least, you should know how to defend yourself, and how to keep it from activating unintentionally."

He smiles and taps a finger against the girl's forehead gently. "Remember, it's not about thinking something can or will happen. It's about believing it should happen. Lewot." He hands her a towel. "For your feet."

	She's more than happy to take is rubbing the water out of her feet. Then glances at both of them looking really thoughtful. "Then how does logic work into my magic if it's about belief then?" she's pulling her shoes back on and satisfied that her feet are's in the leaves and such next to the water. "Magic can be quite logical," Victoria adds. "It is not necessarily the logic than normal minds are capable of conceiving, but it is a logic of its own, and each branch of magic carries its own."

She goes on. "At its core, however, magic is a system of imposing your will upon the world, whether through order, chaos, or other methods. And this can be approached with logic."

"I don't know. There's a great deal you can go into just on the theoretical level about heat and energy conversation when it comes to some stuff," she points out. Then blinks and shrugs at him. "What can I say? My Dad is a high school chemistry teacher and I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to science.... science is fun."

She looks between them then just nods at what Victoria says. It's not science but it's close enough that she can use that to make it all make sense.

Mina and her parents, even Zachary and his, Victoria always felt a twinge of jealousy when it came to families. Her childhood had been wonderful (and her imaginary friend Boston had turned out to be quite real), or as normal as it could be with a blind psychic mother who ran an occult shop, but she had not even known her father until she was an adult and their interactions now were few and sadly far between.

She pushed the thought aside.

"Or is there somewhere else we can take you?"
