Is it weird that I'm on vacation but I'm completely bored? Seriously. Harry's disappeared and Ginny's gone... off shopping apparently and I'm all by myself. Hermione's not coming until Christmas day so I'm on my own. And it's bloody annoying. Fred and George aren't even around to torture me. I went for a fly, I read all the quidditch magazines I own, I even helped Mum with some baking.

Someone entertain me. Please.

PRIVATE TO HERMIONE
Mum said I can come to yours for Christmas Eve, no problem. Your dad's not going to want to have the talk with me, is he? Should I have answers prepared?
END PRIVATE

At least tomorrow's Christmas Eve. Off to Hermione's for dinner if I don't come back, Harry you get all my Quidditch stuff. Then Christmas Day, finally! Happy Christmas to everyone I won't have a chance to see.

That doesn't mean we don't have any that we have to complete before we go back. It's best to go ahead and get it over with.

Private to Harry
Of course I don't mind! I was merely offering because I thought it would be rude of me not to, especially since I invited Ron. I didn't want to make it appear as if I was snubbing you. But I am relieved to hear that things are getting better.

Say hello to Moody and Kingsley for me, and Mrs. Weasley when you see her later? You should take advantage of her food though, you know how much you like it and how much she enjoys spoiling you with it. Happy Christmas to you too, Harry!

Eh I have other reading that I can work on. That and sleeping until noon a few days a week.

Private to Hermione
And I appreciated it a lot. Though I rather think that Ron was hoping I'd decline. I think he's knotting his knickers over your father giving him the what for, but I swear, I have told him that he's bollocked. Not listening, though. But yes, things are better. Seeing the Order members, walking around the city in some of the Muggle parts where I'm just another bloke - time with Ginny alone? Things are much better since we last talked.

I did, and they send their wishes for a very Happy Christmas back, as well as Tonks and Remus, though you'll see them on Christmas. We're back at the Burrow, and Molly has already given me my own Yorkshire Pudding for lunch. She doesn't do this with anyone else! Do I look emaciated, Mione?

But she rather liked my new haircut, that was good, I suppose.

Ron is rather worried that my father is going to give him the talk. It's rather insecure of him to think so, especially since my dad isn't the sort to do something like that anyway. Besides, they both like him very much, so I can't see them being the least bit hostile towards him.

Time with Ginny alone? Were the both of you careful and sure to use a potion?

No, you look like you sometimes forget to have a meal here and there or that you overexert yourself where Quidditch is concerned, but you don't look emancipated. Mrs. Weasley has always been like that though, to everyone, but you especially for some reason.

You got a haircut?

Exactly. The talk, bloody hell. Ginny's been muttering about slipping him a calming draught before he goes over, maybe that isn't such a bad idea - ?

Yes, Mum, we were very careful, we used protection. It was - wonderful.

Now listen, eating is just something extraneous. I was raised to live with a little, I don't feel the need to make every meal per se. Molly seems disappointed if I don't have five helpings and lick the plate in between. I do try to satisfy her, though.

Yeah. It's - a bit longer than a buzz cut, I guess?

We did. Don't worry. I can't talk about this in front of him! And yeah...it was wonderful.

He did! He looks completely, 100% different, but I personally think he looks dead sexy. Which means more girls pinning up his poster. Which means I'm now cranky. Bollocks! Bollocks to your sexy hair, Harry Potter!

Good, I'm not sure anyone would be very pleased if something resulted from either of you forgetting, especially your mum and brothers, Ginny.

What prompted you to get a haircut, Harry, and do you think it'll actually stay short for awhile? Usually it grows back fairly quickly, right?

You have no clue. I think we're all on the same page here. As we are all on the same page about not. Telling. Ron. Ever.

The stares, mostly. I had to go to Diagon Alley for a final purchase and it was the final straw, all of the stares, the people stopping me, the attention - I just - hoped I could disappear in plain sight, huh? The twins didn't recognize me at first, that's a good sign.

I don't see why you can't tell Ron. I believe he'll be able to handle the news better than you might think. He might be a bit awkward about it at first, but he'll come around.

But wouldn't you get the stares more since your scar is a bit more prominent now without your hair to cover it?

Ron. The guy who is having a nutter about your father. "Hey best mate, I'm shagging your sister." Ron. Who took six years to tell you how he felt. Ron. Hermione? Who are you talking about?

Surprisingly, without the shaggy hair and the glasses - I wore my contacts today, even though they bloody piss me the hell off - I'm missing two of the three immediate markers that I am Harry Potter. Now I just need to charm my eyes a different colour. Ah. I'd imagine it will grow back within a week or so, but - for a day or two, until people figure it out? I can go about in peace. It's lovely, Mione.

He's not that insensitive. Okay, perhaps he is at times, but there are those moments where he surprises even the both of us with some of the things he accepts. You know he'll be even angrier if he finds out later instead of sooner.

Charming your eyes a different colour isn't as easy as the other two, though have you considered getting contacts that change your eye colour instead of using a spell to do it? But if it makes things easier and makes you happier to be more disguised, then I guess I can't blame you.

I can't ruin his Christmas, Mione. I can't ruin his hols, and I know that even if he takes this better than expected, finding out that Ginny and I are - it'll be something that he had to process, at best. I guess I don't know how I'd say it. Or I'm being a bit of a coward, I don't know.

Ug, I hate contacts. All I want to do is rub at my eyes and then they pop out or something and I have to put them back in - I like being speccy. I just need little pockets to feel normal. But Tonks said that I can always just go off in the city and hang with the muggles, and no one will notice me. I've enjoyed doing that, a lot. Besides, London is brilliant, it's fun to explore it, you know?

I never said that you should tell him at Christmas! He's already stressed enough with coming here, being bored, and just being Ron. If you can't tell him or don't want to, let Ginny and I tell him. Though, maybe not Ginny, since it might not come out as gentle as it may need to. Either way, he'll be fine with it.

Then why wear them if they irritate you so much? But a vanishing charm or an invisible charm on your glasses instead. London is nice, though a bit dirty if you ask me. I haven't been there since getting on the train this summer, but I have a few favourite places that I like to go when given the chance.

Actually, if Ginny told him, it might be worth the price of admission to watch. Except they might try to kill each other, and then accidentally kill us, so perhaps not. And - I really might take you up on telling him. Or being in the room, since he's less likely to hex me if you are around.

An invisibility charm on them? Mione - have I ever told you that you are sodding brilliant? That's perfect! And I think banging around the city for a bit should be on the agenda after the term ends, though I really want to leave the country for a while next summer.

Actually, Ginny probably shouldn't since they might start throwing hexes at one another. We wouldn't want something potentially dangerous to happen, especially on your end since two of them are on your team. I guess that leaves me, doesn't it?

You're welcome, then. If you can't figure out the charm, let me know and I'll send you the book with the instructions or show you when we get back to school - or well, tomorrow, actually. Ron would appreciate some of the things London has to offer and there are a lot of interesting places we could go.

Why do you want to leave the country? Where will you go?

Wouldn't that be just perfect that after months of practise, what does us in would be each other? Let's avoid that. We'll - talk about what to do after hols. I think this means we have a bit more egg nog instead.

It was a team effort, but I think we got the charm. I wasn't flicking my wrist right at first. I just don't have the wrist for charms, I swear. I really forgot how much the city has to offer; since Hogwarts, it seems reduced to Diagon Alley and its surroundings. I forgot how huge it is. I think Ron would really enjoy it.

Stretch my legs a bit? Find a beach and sleep for four days? I've always wanted to go to Prague. Have a real holiday, I've never had one in my whole life. Thanks, Dursleys. I think that'd be tops, a getaway.
