[005] Oh. Yeah. This thing.
While it was interesting to meet so many of you who required assistance with taxes, I think I'm glad to say I'm thankful tax season is over. The extra work was good experience and a little extra income, but very draining.

Gaki is doing well. He adjusted quickly to training and doesn't seem to mind me not being around all the time, thankfully. He still baffles me with his ability to not be where I thought he was and tendency to get into everything. I almost shut him in the fridge the other day because he crawled in while I was getting something off a higher shelf. He's gotten pretty big and lost a little fluff, since the vet says he's almost a year now.

I'm also glad for the break between class terms. I think I understand a little more why people try to avoid working while getting their Masters. Not that I can't handle it, but...finals were intense. I still received top marks, but I sometimes wished I'd had more study time. I can only imagine it would have been even more daunting were I still at Harvard. Though I wouldn't have to work then, but I'd still have to live with Father... But anyway, I have a couple weeks to regroup before summer term, so I plan to enjoy them! And sleep.

...What? [c-confused...? OH!] Oh! No, not like in gradeschool. Though in gradeschool you can take extra classes over the summer for credit even if you didn't fail. [guess how she knows.] Um...I...don't think I'd be allowed to work here if I was still in gradeschool...

Um... [decides to go ahead and explain...] University has three terms: fall, spring, and summer. Summer term is usually shorter, but the classes are longer and more intensive. But...it earns you credit just like the other two, so it's helpful in finishing a degree.

oh ok. i didn't think you were in gradeschool but i thought all school was the same except you have to pay for college. why do you go to college if you already got a job?

Ah, no. You know how in most of gradeschool you don't get a lot of choice in classes or in the arrangement of your schedule? [...sorry. ;A;] College does require you to take a certain small base set of courses, but you can take whatever additional classes you wish to pay for. And the more common classes have multiple times or days to go, so you can make your own schedule. It's a lot more open. And you can get an Associates Degree with mostly just the basic stuff and a few electives, usually; or if you know what field you want to study all of your classes usually adhere to that field. [likes school far more than is healthy.]

Because if I want to get further in my field I will need a higher degree. And Father would expect me to make sure I could be as useful as possible to a business. Right now I'm gaining the hands-on experience of working in the lower levels of what I hope to do while I go to school. And...I kind of need to work to pay bills while I'm living here.

Yes - or the equivalent elsewhere. I'm not sure that I want to stay here forever... [Really didn't want to before, but now...she has friends here. :o]

...What makes you think you can't? Ah, if you don't mind me asking. I just...don't see why you couldn't do what you wanted to do...

I guess the question is also "What would you want to do?"

some people got stuff in their past...that makes people not want to employ them.

i don't know. i learned some skills but there aren't a lot of factory jobs anymore and that's all i know how to do other than make coffee thanks to itachi. and act.

Oh, I see. Hmm... Well...what are you interested in? Maybe...maybe if you find something you like, you could do well with it...and if you're really good at something sometimes people will overlook the past. Education helps, too; even an Associates degree.
