Another Night, Another Bottle
Sam Winchester knows, deep down, that he's better than this, better than letting himself drown in self-pity and a cheap bottle of whiskey, but he doesn't care right now. He doesn't care that his brother, Dean, would want him to find a way to move on with his life and get out from under the cloud hanging over him, but Sam doesn't care about that, either.

Dean is dead, and much of Sam's purpose in life went with him. Dean was the one who'd first gotten Sam into hunting, into this life of moving from place to place and helping where they could. He'd been happy in law school, leaving this all behind, before Dean came asking for his help. Every time Sam needed his brother, Dean was there to help, there to encourage him.

But when Dean needed him, Sam couldn't come through for his brother.

He takes another drink, letting the alcohol burn as it runs down his throat. The drinking dulls the pain somewhat, keeping his guilt from eating him alive completely...

...at least, until the whiskey runs out again.

Sam sighs. He should get out of there, because he knows he's not thinking clearly when it comes to Ruby. He knows he's going to need his wits about him for whatever comes next. But he follows Ruby to the bed, because it's easier than being angry. "Sorry. You're right. We should just forget about it." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

She pulled him down on the bed with her. "Yes...yes we should." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Sam follows Ruby down to the bed in order to work on forgetting their previous discussion, deciding they'll have a different one instead. (Reply to this)(Parent)
