Another Night, Another Bottle
Sam Winchester knows, deep down, that he's better than this, better than letting himself drown in self-pity and a cheap bottle of whiskey, but he doesn't care right now. He doesn't care that his brother, Dean, would want him to find a way to move on with his life and get out from under the cloud hanging over him, but Sam doesn't care about that, either.

Dean is dead, and much of Sam's purpose in life went with him. Dean was the one who'd first gotten Sam into hunting, into this life of moving from place to place and helping where they could. He'd been happy in law school, leaving this all behind, before Dean came asking for his help. Every time Sam needed his brother, Dean was there to help, there to encourage him.

But when Dean needed him, Sam couldn't come through for his brother.

He takes another drink, letting the alcohol burn as it runs down his throat. The drinking dulls the pain somewhat, keeping his guilt from eating him alive completely...

...at least, until the whiskey runs out again.

	Ruby had been on Sam's tail for a few days now. He'd been trying to ditch her since she last found him, but she never gave up easy. And by now, he should know that if she wanted to find him, she /would/. Ruby approached the bar, walking up to where he was sitting and casually taking the stool next to him. Sam didn't even have to look to know who was next to him. He knew Ruby's voice as well as he knew Dean's or his own. What he couldn't figure out was why she was still following him after he'd told her he wasn't buying what she was selling.

"I thought I was pretty clear last time you found me, Ruby. Not interested in whatever you have to say." Sam says, downing his drink and pouring himself another from the bottle.

	He couldn't let her take the Impala. Dean would haunt him until the End of Days if he let her take the Impala. Sam was so sick of demons messing with him, controlling his life, but he didn't have a choice at this moment. He had to play along and Ruby knew it. 	Sam grins and slides out of bed, reaching for his boxers. He puts them on, followed by his jeans and his shirt. He leaves and goes to get pop-tarts and orange juice for the hungry demon, smiling the whole way. When he comes back, he puts everything on the little table in their room does an exaggerated bow.
