Flashback: Independence Day
All day she had bitten her tongue and followed orders, but when midnight rolled around and Sebastian Shaw came to Christina with a birthday "gift," she had a little surprise of her own. December 13th wasn't her birthday; it was independence day.

A little after one she arrived on Julian's doorstep not entirely certain she'd be welcome, but it was the only place she could think to go.

"Then we'll have to help you sort out your plans tomorrow. I recommend pursuing a career in Mad Science. Right now, help yourself to anything in the fridge. We have Coke, and what I'll admit is a rather unfortunate attempt at a cheesecake. I should probably go reassure Julian that his woman hasn't been stolen in the night." She grins. "He'll be glad to hear it. And about your fuckyouverymuch to Shaw."

Julian looks up from his reading and smiles at Minnie.

"Is Christina here? Did something happen with her?" he asks, his eyes darkening. His mother told him that now was not the time to depose Shaw or deal with the odious Benedict Kine, but if Julian saw /one more/ bruise upon Tina's body, he would tell his mother to hell with her plan and endure her displeasure later.

"Where is she?" he asks, rising from his desk.

"Please don't remind me about January, Minnie. I am not looking forward to my own departure for Italy. This house is going to be so empty, especially now that Anton is gone." Julian says quietly.

"I know you and Tina close, which is why I hope she'll let you help her. I think her trust issues with men might cause her to second-guess anything I say, even if she doesn't want to." he says.

Tina was certainly not asleep. She was too excited and too scared to sleep, though she had politely lightened the fridge of a single can of Coke. She'd poured it into a wine glass. A little strange, perhaps, but this was a celebration.

She was eighteen. She was free. She never had to go back.

In the media room, her pants were neatly folded and sat on the floor with her shoes and Tina had just sat down on the couch in her underwear preparing to curl up under a blanket after she enjoyed her drink.

"Happy birthday to me," she said lifting the wine-glass Coke slightly whens he heard Minnie and Julian come in.

"Oh, hi guys." She sat her drink down on a coaster. "I really can't thank you both enough."

"No need, Tina. You can stay here as long as you need to." Julian says, finding a spot near Tina, but not near her to fix his attention upon. He'd forgotten she slept with little on.

"I did, however, come to inform you that you'll not be sleeping on this couch tonight. We're having the guest room made up for you. Before you protest, I'm not taking no for an answer tonight.

In my house, I prefer my guests comfortable. This couch can't be /that/ comfortable. I tried sleeping on it last week and I failed miserably. If you like...Minnie can even keep you company." Julian offers.

	A bit of color rose to Tina's cheeks at the mention of Minnie joining her upstairs. Even if it was simple companionship, Tina's mind drifted to the other possibility. Julian looks down at Minnie. "I recognize that Tina isn't afraid of the dark, but you two get along so well. I just want her to be as comfortable as possible." Julian says.

He then looks to Tina with a smile.

"I'm glad you came and interrupted my evening. I was busy brushing up on my German. I'm terrible at German. I only know the curse words." he jests, laughing a little.

"Really, though, you are welcome here, Tina. I'm just glad you're away from that maniac, Shaw. If he comes here looking for trouble, he'll find it.

Otherwise, you just need to focus on relaxing. I mean it. No worrying."

	Minnie giggles and tells Tina, in her own strangely chant-like approach to German, "I had hoped at least that he would understand when I asked him to make love to me." Then she just nods. Gladly taking Minnie's offered hand, she leaned closer to her a bit conspiratorially.

"Oh I'm sure there could be no misunderstanding about what you want when you want it," Tina responded, also in German, those hers had a different flow. "We could always teach him vocabulary."

It sounded probably more forward than she intended. German was a strong language after all.

Julian looks between the pair of them, resisting the urge to reach out with his mind and find out what they were saying. He would figure this out.

"You two want me to make...something German. A food item? I got that much out of the sentence. If this was Italian were were speaking, there would be no issues here.

So what are we making?" Julian asks, a little perplexed.

What were they saying?

A little contralto chuckle. "Oh, it's too perfect," she says, going back to English. "No pressure, Tina, but I feel like we simply have to show him now. Besides..." And her laughter softens into a thin smile, her eyes a little darker somehow. "It'd be a... refreshing thing, to have the kind of antics we've had together before in front of a real man, wouldn't it?"

Julian's terrible German made Tina smile. It was adorable, how he tried. She would have laughed out loud but she had seen the glint in Minnie's eye.

"Someone who would genuinely appreciate it, no?" Tina licked her lips a bit and looked at Julian.

"Perhaps we should give you some context cues..."

Her own eyes seemed to darken as she took Minnie's face in her hands and kissed the other woman with a deep tenderness.

Well, /that/ broke down the language barrier in a hurry.

"Oh. Well, in that case...perhaps I'd like to see what your little team is capable of. I admit that I've been curious since Minnie first told me something about you two having your faces between each other's legs. I've been trying to picture that and my mind just /isn't/ getting me all the way there." Julian says, his eyes raking over both women.

"Feel free to tell me about in any language you like and I'll do my best to keep up." he says, removing his Rolex and setting it down upon the coffee table.

"Just curious...you two are both free this weekend, right?" he asks.
