Marney blushed at his compliment, a cocky little smile making its way onto her lips. He was just the sweetest guy she had ever met, not to mention a perfect little gentlemen. "You're too kind," she informed him, giving him a playful poke. She could definitely get used to being complimented so nicely.

"Haven't thought about it at all? Not even just a little?" she asked, raising an eyebrow at him. "What's caught your interest so much you aren't even interested in winning, handsome?"

She tilted her head in thought, giving him a smile. "I dunno kiddo, you've got some pretty stiff competition," she winked a him. "Mack is gonna be hard to beat, but I think you're way cuter for the record."

He shrugged. "Nah, just callin' it like I see it," he grinned. He had never expected to ever spend a dance blushing away the way he did with Marney. She wasn't like any other girl he had dated before. Most girls he dated were stoners, flakes, or oddballs.

"Not at all, I been thinkin' about other stuff," he averted his eyes, turning a deep cherry red before flicking his eyes back to Marney's. "Well, honestly I been thinkin' about how I can make tonight really great," he spun her out, then spun her back in, grinning widely. He quietly thanked Blue for forcing him to go to dance class with her when they were younger.

He laughed. "Shucks," he joked. He had always been called cute from other girls but hearing it from Marney Sykes was a whole new sensation. Apple shrugged his shoulders. "I wouldn't mind loosing to Mack. She's pretty bad ass."

Marney found herself grinning a bit stupidly as Apple spun her out, feeling a bit flushed as she came back in, her hand not holding Apple's resting on his chest. He had some pretty good moves, even she had to admit that, and she wasn't this easily impressed on a first date as a rule. "Now you're just shitting me," she teased, feeling her face heating up a little bit more. "What's the catch? You can't possibly be this nice just because. Although, to your credit, tonight has been pretty great so far." She gave him a shy smile, biting her lip and looking away.

"She is pretty bad ass," Marney agreed, chuckling as she thought about the angry blonde. "Although now that she's got Tate she's kind of like a de-clawed cat!"

"You probably hear it all the time, like it's some line or something but I aint like other boys," that much was true. Apple was a genuinely sweet kid. "I mean, like... I was raised on a commune," he shrugged. "We're always thinkin' about others and shit and how we can help everyone else out. Maybe that's why I'm so sweet," he grinned. Most people didn't believe him, most didn't even think that communes still existed. It was true though, Apple Evans had been born on a hippie commune, second generation.

"A really pissed off de-clawed cat," he laughed loudly. He loved Mack, she was awesome really but he would never fuck with her. "Though if anyone fucked with Tate I'm sure Mack would turn into a tiger and claw their eyes out."

Marney laughed and gave Apple a genuine smile. "You know what Ap? I never hear that from other guys. They're always too buys trying to use a one liner to get into my pants!" It was true, even if sometimes it worked, there had been very few boys who were actually as sweet as Apple. "A commune, huh? That's pretty cool! We went to a commune once when my mom went on an all organic kick or something. I was pretty jealous of the kids who grew up there because everyone cared about everyone else." She let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head a bit. "Sorry, you probably don't wanna hear all about my messed up family life! What counts is that you're really sweet Ap, and definitely way nicer than other boys."

She laughed too, it was an extremely accurate description of the tall blonde girl. "She's a lot more of a mama bear now, that's for sure! I think it's sweet how she looks after Tate. She'd have never done that a year or so ago. Or perhaps she was just waiting for Tatum the whole time." Marney shrugged, she didn't believe in true love, even if she encouraged her younger sister to be with Emma. It just wasn't for her, especially after finding out about her father's actions a few weeks ago.

He flushed a little. "Guys are jerks, most of them are just out there makin' the rest of us look like real assholes," he laughed, shaking his head. "You deserve better than some damn one liner."

"Mars," he said looking at her a little more seriously. "I wanna hear as much about you as you wanna tell," he kissed her cheek, unable to stop smiling. This poor girl sounded like she really had the creme of the crop when it came to jerk guys.

Apple nodded. "Yeah, I think they were kinda waitin' for each other. Some people just kinda fit like little puzzle pieces. They're real cute though," he nodded, laughing a little.

Marney found herself blushing for what seemed like the hundredth time that night. This had to stop, it was starting to make her worry about her reputation. At the very least, she knew that Hunter and Mack would rail on her for it later on. And Leland would probably give himself a heart attack trying to figure out what Apple had said to make her flush so much. The nice words, the kiss on the cheek, it was like they were in some horrible teen movie and Marney couldn't get enough of it for some inexplicable reason.

"Nah, I won't bore you now with the horror stories of my childhood," she said shaking her head and laughing. "You're really sweet for asking though Ap, maybe we can go get coffee sometime and I'll tell you some?" She was breaking her second date rule, the one where she didn't make plans for another meet up during the first. It just lead to commitment and possibly heartbreak. "I'd wouldn't mind venting to someone not Leland or Ruby for once. They're such tightwads!"

"No offence, babe, but I wouldn't mind seeing the two of them win tonight," she said. "They deserve something nice I think." She leaned in and pecked Apple on the nose, "Not that I don't think you'd make an extremely handsome king, but I don't really want to have to share you with anyone else tonight!"

Apple had been completely oblivious to anyone or anything going on around them. He was totally indulging in their own little world. "Tell ya what, if you let me cook you dinner after that coffee, you can talk my ear off all night and I won't even mind," he said easily. Tonight was going way better than he would have predicted. He leaned in a whispered, smirking. "I can't imagine the horror of having a heart to heart with your brother," he teased.

"Hey none taken!" he couldn't deny the butterflies in his stomach when she kissed his nose all sweet like. "I wouldn't dream of makin' you share nothin'," he spun her out, then spun her back in, laughing brightly.

"Y-you're gonna cook me dinner?" Marney asked dumbfounded. She was a bit taken aback to be honest, a few guys had cooked her dinner before, but this was somehow different. She immediately gave Apple a shy smile. "I'd...I'd really like that." She couldn't help but let out a giggle at the thought of Le having a heart to heart with Apple. "I think his brain is made of just as much useless muscle as his arms." she informed him in a whisper.

She spun back into Apple's arm and couldn't help but grin at his laughter. "Good," she told him. "I hate sharing my things."

"Hell yeah," he said brightly. "My ma taught me how to cook mean Korean food and my dad taught me how to cook anything on a camp fire. So if you ever wanna go campin, I got ya covered," he grinned.

He snorted at her comment about Leland. Le might have been shorter but Apple would never knowingly fuck with the kid. Le was bigger and looked like he had some anger issues with that scowl of his. Apple just smirked and nodded. "I'm sure it is. A heart to heart would probably look something like getting the shit kicked out of me."

Apple only felt himself growing red at her comment. For once in his life, he couldn't think of what to say. "Well I'm yours to do what you will with," he finally said.
