Generally speaking, Tatum guessed she couldn't complain. It was really nice out, just the kind of autumn days she usually loved, and the food that Jenny and Sera had brought actually hadn't been so bad. She had been expecting something entirely healthy and lame, but having food to cater to the twins picky tastes actually helped her out too. Tatum was pretty sure that Jenny had probably packed most of it, but that was mostly just because she really didn't feel like giving Sera any credit. In fact, she really didn't feel like giving the younger girl anything but a good slap upside the head.

She was ready to kill her sister for setting her up like this, and then to turn around and try to call it a date. And to tell Mack that it was a stupid date, and then have the girl show up with flowers. The redhead had been so embarrassed. She had been put into a trap, but she was stuck now. After the scene earlier, with Sera pulling her back out of the Floo by her backpack as she tried to escape upon seeing Mack in the station, there was really no sense in fighting it. She was trapped, and would just have to make the best of the day. It was only for a little while.

But so far it had been hard to avoid hanging around Mack all morning, and it seemed like no matter what she did, every time that she turned around the blonde was right there. She thought she was so smooth, just grinning and trying to chat her up, but Tatum wasn't having it. Even during lunch, though she had chosen to sit on the opposite side of the picnic blanket from the other girl, the blonde still just had that stupid smug look on her face.

Right then, Tatum had wandered off on her own for a bit, hands shoved into the pockets of her shorts and her headphones hanging loosely around her neck. She wasn't really feeling like being a part of the group right then anyway, after Jenny had shouted shrilly at her for throwing an apple at the back of Sera's head while she was cleaning up from lunch. It was just an apple, it wasn't like she was going to take her eye out, despite what the blonde said. She hadn't even thrown it that hard.. it was just a love tap.

Sighing, the redhead found a particularly full looking tree and flopped down under neath it. She made a little face as a few apples dug into her back, but she quickly shoved them aside to get comfortable in the grass, staring up at the sky. If she wasn't stuck with Sera and Mack, it might actually be a really perfect day.

Picking apples was hard work and Ella was more conscious about being totally sweaty in front of Hendrix. She'd excused herself to freshen up, tossing her scarf and sweater and wandering aimlessly with Maurey at her heels. Ella stopped Tatum easily enough and skipped over to the redhead with a grin.

"I didn't think you hit Sera very hard" she joked.

Tatum had been pretty relaxed in the peace and quiet, letting her eyes slide closed and stay that way for a while. Maybe she'd just nap in the field until everyone had enough and was ready to go home. When Ella spoke, her eyes opened and for a split second she thought Jenny had come to tell her to grow up more, but Maurey gave it away. Thank goodness.

"Right?" Tatum replied, smiling weakly and scooting over and patting the ground beside her. Ella hadn't been set up with someone insufferable, but she had still been set up. They could relate. "She deserved it anyway, she's a twat," the redhead lamented.

Ella took the invitation to sit down and plopped next to the red head happily, offering her a bag of chips she'd been munching on. "She's not a twat! She's just a little weird. Do you know she actually laughs at Jenny's jokes? They're the worst jokes in the world!" Laughing, she lay beside Tatum and petted Maurey lazily.

Tatum smiled and propped herself up a bit better, taking the chips and popping a few into her mouth. She made a face at Ella's defense of Sera, but that was just Ella. She didn't think she had ever heard the blonde say something genuinely mean about anyone ever. Everyone seemed to have to at least one redeeming qualities, and Tatum wished she could be so positive about everything. She didn't know how Ella did it.

"She's totally freaking weird. Like, sometimes I think she's a robot and she's like, set on either taking over the school or driving me to drink," she muttered. When Ella brought up Jenny's jokes, Tatum cracked a little smile. "Oh, you mean like the one about the two hydrogen atoms? Or the one about the post doctorate student changing fields?" she replied sarcastically, laughing a little herself as she flopped back fully again, looking up at the sky.

"Even when I get them, they're not funny!"

Ella giggled and rolled onto her belly, leaning her chin on her hand. "Don't even mention hydrogen atoms! I've heard that joke like, a billion times!" Ella groaned. "They're the worst jokes ever, they don't even make sense." As her laughter died away Ella stared at Tatum sympathetically.

"So you're supposed to be on a date too? I didn't even know you liked girls. Still, it seems like nearly all the girls here like girls!"

"I think they just want to sound smarter than everybody else," Tatum replied thoughtfully, tapping her chin. "There's like, no way that they actually find that pretentious shit funny," she murmured. When Ella looked at her, Tatum looked back, cheeks flushing as she was asked about the date part of the day. She had avoided it calling it that at any cost.

"N-No, I didn't-- Sera is calling it a date, I'm not on a date. I just l-like apples.. and boys. I don't know what their problem is," the redhead muttered sullenly, trying not to pout her lower lip out too far. Ella had a point, and it made her cheeks turn even redder. "It sure seems that way, h-huh? I mean, a lot of them.. do. I guess it's like, cool now or whatever."

"I hate apples" Ella admitted with a whisper. Jenny sure knew that but she doubted Sera did. She looked at the bag of chips and grinned guiltily.

Looking at the ground thoughtfully she let out a sigh. "I mean, I guess I can see why girls are nice and stuff but.. boys are too cute! I like their hair and their... chests" she rambled, blushing slightly. "Maybe Sera just doesn't want you to feel left out."

"I don't really like apples so much as like.. caramel apples. You need to like, put candy and sugar and shit in there or it's just fruit," Tatum lamented, sighing a bit herself and taking some more of the chips as she listened to Ella speak.

"Girls are.. whatever, I guess. I mean, t-they're like soft and stuff, and sometimes they have really nice hair.. and stuff.. but yeah, boys are like way too cute," the redhead replied, putting on her best smile, so much as she just wanted to frown. When Ella said she liked their chests, however, that gave her a distraction from her own inner turmoil on the subject.

"Oh yeah? Their chests? I bet you like them like, super hairy, right?" she joked, laughing a bit and making a face right after. "Gross."

She gave a noncommittal shrug at Sera trying to include her. "Maybe," she replied, but she had her doubts. There was definitely an ulterior motive, and the fact that Mack had shown up with flowers proved that.

"I guess I can eat apples once a year. On Halloween! That's the only exception." Tatum had a point, girls did have nice hair. She nodded. "Girls hair is really cute. Especially yours! I'd kill to have red hair, totally."

Ella buried her head in her arms and groaned as Tatum talked about hairy chests. "Barf! I guess that's a good thing about girls too. No hairy chests. Or 'pits!" Hendrix didn't have a hairy chest. The thought flashed into her head but she buried it.

"I hate fake apple flavor. That shit is the worst, like apple candy? It never fucking tastes like apples," Tatum murmured, scrunching her face up at the thought. "They're the worst Jolly Ranchers, fuck the green ones."

When Ella complimented her hair, Tatum laughed a little, tipping her head a bit to look at the younger girl. "No way, it's t-totally stupid.. red hair m-makes you stand out. I'd trade," she admitted. She did love it mostly, it was a little bit unique, but it was also a curse for that same reason. Everyone remembered that skittish little ginger. "Your hair is super cute, and you have really pretty eyes," she added.

That was coming dangerously close to flirting or something though, and that was so wrong, and the redhead was glad to have the distraction of the hairy chests. "Right? I mean, from like a.. grooming and hygiene perspective, I have to g-give it to the girls. But there's, y'know.. something about boys. They're something," she murmured, trailing off a bit and just looking up again. She sighed. "Hairy pits are the worst, worse than chests."

When Tatum complimented her on her eyes she beamed at the older girl. "You really think so? I think Jenny's are a little more blue and she has super long eyelashes! Probably 'cause she's the oldest" Ella joked.

"How can hairy pits not be totally stinky?" Leaning closer to Tatum more, eyes wide and slightly alarmed she whispered. "You know what though? What if like, you were doing stuff with a boy and then they have a hairy butt." She paled slightly and swallowed. "Wouldn't you just freak out?"

Despite being a twin herself, Tatum had only really begun to be able to tell Jenny and Ella apart since Sera had started dating Jenny. It was kind of easy to tell them apart once you actually got to know them. It was more mannerisms than appearances though. She had never really noticed a difference, but then again, she usually refrained from checking the twins out for her own sanity and Sera's wrath. She smiled sheepishly, shrugging. "I do," she agreed. "I mean, not that I've like.. stared into your eyes all the time or anything. Or y-your sister's. But they're definitely super cute!"

When Ella leaned in closer, Tatum did the same, waiting to hear what she was going to say. Upon hearing it though, the redhead snorted in laughter. "Oh my god, I'd bail!" she laughed, clapping a hand over her mouth. "Fuck that, I'm not down for that, I'm-- no, I'm like.. totally not doing stuff with a boy until I'm, uh, married. And I'm not m-marrying anybody with a hairy ass."

Mack/Sera

Mackenzie had decided to back off over lunch and recuperate, Tatum had been shutting her down at every opportunity. She had even ran away from her when everyone had crowded around the picnic table for lunch. Now she was sitting next to Sera, shooting glances down the table at Tatum as they ate. She was just a little discouraged, she had been really nice to the girl all morning. There hadn't even been any crude comments or teasing.

She took a bite out of her apple and glanced over at Sera who was sitting to her left. She felt pathetic having to ask Sera constantly for advice on how to win over her sister, she was the mother fucking Mack Daddy. She shouldn't have to ask some kid for advice, but here she was once again ready to pick the younger girl's brain for anything that might get her an in.

"So, what the hell is up with your sister?" She asked, taking a more violent bite out of her apple. She shot another glance down the table at Tatum and caught her glaring in her direction. Winking at her and giving her a large smile, she gave the girl a small wave. "I've been the perfect gentlemen all day and she's acting like I just walked up to her and stuck my hand down her pants."

Sera couldn't believe how Tatum was acting, it wasn't exactly how she hoped the day would go but there was still time to turn it around, in her opinion. The brunette reached into the basket Jenny had packed and pulled out another half of sandwich, glaring down the table at Tatum around the basket as she did.

Mack was sitting to her right, and Jenny was to her left busy talking to Ella and Hendrix. She was trying really hard to think of something to say to Mackenzie, some kind of words of encouragement but she was kind of at a loss. She turned quickly to face Mack, turning her back slightly in Tatum's direction. "I have no idea, I think she's just being a bitch on purpose, to ruin my day or something."

Seeing Mack wink at Tatum she turned and looked at Tatum's expression and couldn't help but giggle, covering her hands over her mouth to try and hide it. "I know you have, you haven't even made that many dirty jokes or anything, total gentleman. She's probably just afraid to be nice to you because she wishes you would do that." Sera laughed, turning and smirking at her sister again and back to Mack.

Mackenzie just smirked smugly at Sera's words, it made her feel a little bit better. "She's got that stick shoved pretty far up her ass," She took another bite of her apple and glanced up again at Tatum. She was almost positive that she saw the girl's eyes flick in her direction again, but it wasn't as long as before. "Correct me if I'm wrong dear little sister, but in your experience, shouldn't someone who wishes that someone would do that be nice to the person they want to do that with?"

Mackenzie took a drink of the water she had grabbed and looked back to Sera. "I'm kinda at a loss for what to do here kid," she continued, frowning slightly. "I don't know how much longer I can be nice if she's going to act like a little brat." She spoke the last four word loudly, knowing that Tatum could hear her. If the kid was really that upset that she was here, and was going to be rude to her, she might as well be rude back.

"It's immature," she finished, regarding her apple core for a second before chucking it over everyone's head.

"Not if that someone doesn't want to admit it or want anyone to know. I think she thinks if she's nice to you.." She shot her sister another quick look. "..people will think she must be gay too." She informed her, thinking for a second. "Or maybe she knows if she's nice to you she won't be able to resist the old Mack charm." She smiled at her friend, nudging her in the shoulder slightly. "It's a defense if you ask me."

"Your absolutely right she is acting like a complete brat. How much is it to ask for her to just act like an adult for one day." The brunette replied grumpily. "Maybe you should try that, be mean to her back see how she likes it. You never know.." The younger girl continued. "Maybe you'll get through her and she'll stop being a bitch and actually talk to you." Being nice obviously wasn't working, even still Sera knew it wasn't the best advice but it was worth a try.

The blonde girl laughed when Sera nudged her, it did make her feel better to think that Tatum was just being rude to her to defend her own feelings. "There aren't many girl's who can resist the Dubinsky charm," She agreed with a smirk, shoot another look down the table at the redhead. "I am pretty fuckin' charming when I wanna be. If anyone could resist it though, it would be your sister." She frowned a little bit, "I thought she was going to light those flowers I gave her on fire earlier she looked so mad."

Mackenzie shrugged half heartedly, it was a decent idea she supposed. It wasn't like being nice was getting her anywhere. Being rude to Tatum in return could cause the girl to hate her even more than she actually did however, Mackenzie felt like there was really no way she could win. "The lady doth protests too much me thinks," She said, resting her chin in her hand. "You think she'll ever admit it to herself? Or just be extremely straight her whole life?"

"You're totally charming I wouldn't take it personally." She smiled, leaning her head on Mack's shoulder. "I've seen you get I don't know how many girls over the years. It probably would have even worked on me if I wasn't with Hunter first, and you weren't, you know madly in love with my sister." She looked up at her friend again laughing and pointing behind her back at Tatum without turning to look at the redhead.

"I think she'll have to at some point. Look at her, she's too gay not to." The brunette smirked pointing behind her back again. "She'll only be able to fake it so long, right? That's probably why Colin broke up with her." She still didn't actually know what happened, her attempt to find out on Wednesday didn't really go as planned.

Mackenzie smiled as well as Sera leaned on her shoulder, it had really been great that the younger girl had stayed friends with the two blondes after she broke up with Hunter. For all the grief that they gave the younger girl, she was a good friend to both of them, and if Mack was feeling sappy, she might admit that she was glad to have Sera as a friend. "You mean I missed my chance to have a piece of the queen nerd?" She asked, trying her best to appear upset. She had always figured that Sera had a little crush on her, and enjoyed flirting with the girl just to get a rise out of her. "The door is always open for you little sister," She smirked, winking at the younger girl. "And I am not in love with your sister. Love is a big word kiddo, I'm simply interested is all."

Glancing up to look at the redhead again as Sera pointed at her, she studied the girl curiously. She really hadn't given much thought to why Colin had broken up with the girl, she had just been excited that it had happened at all. The redhead totally sent Mackenzie's gaydar through the roof, and the girl's denial was blatantly obvious. "I suppose you're right kid," She agreed after a few more moments of staring at Tatum. "Did she ever tell you what happened between her and The Colin? I'm dying to know what split up the dream team."

The younger girl couldn't help but laugh, leaning on Mack again and grinning up at her. She loved teasing the older blond, sometimes straight up flirting with her but it was just how they always were. "You're not like heart broken or anything are you?" She joked sticking her tongue out at the blond as she leaned away from her, when the older girl teased her about about the door always being open. "I'm sure it is." She added sarcastically, still laughing. "I always knew you'd wait for me." She added, giving her friend a soft push in the leg.

"I think you are." She teased, looking at Mack a bit more serious. "Maybe loves kinda strong but I've seen you interested plenty of times before and you didn't do anything like this. I don't know maybe you just wanted to spend the day with me or something but she's treating you like garbage and you're still sticking around." She glanced down the table again at Tatum who was still busy sulking over her food then back at Mack, "just saying." She added quietly.

Sera knew as soon as she brought up Colin, Mack would probably want to know what happened. Unfortunately for both of them though Tatum still wasn't really talking. "No she still won't say a word." Sera huffed, pretty disappointed she hadn't been able to find out more. "Oh get this though,I got this much. Apparently they broke up like a while ago, like during summer vacation before your party and everything. And then I guess she just pretended nothing happened cause I never heard a word of it till parents weekend."

Mackenzie tried not to grin as she pouted at Sera, doing her best to look as broken as possible. "I'm incredibly heart broken," She said, sniffing a little for emphasis. "All of these wasted years little sister, and now you have a wonderful wife! I'll just forever be alone thinking about what could have been, and what never was!" She leaned her head back dramatically, pressing the back of her hand to her forehead with her eyes closed. She couldn't help but let the small grin spread across her face though, and soon she was laughing, unable to keep up her seriousness any longer.

Sera's words sobered her up quickly though, and she frowned, biting her bottom lip as she stared at the table. She really couldn't shoot down anything that Sera had said to her, and she hated the fact that the girl's logic was so solid. "Maybe," she said quietly, picking absently at some loose skin on her finger. Tatum was still too much of a mystery, but she couldn't deny that she was definitely more than just a little bit interested in the girl. "I hate that you're always so damn logical," she said with a small laugh. "Know it all."

She was glad for the subject change, even if Sera had no idea what had split Colin and Tatum up. She was surprised to find out that that had broken up over the summer, it made her even more suspicious of the younger girl though. Why pretend to still be with Colin if she wasn't trying to cover something up? "Huh," she mused, glancing down the table at Tatum again and studying her with an interested look. "Maybe ickle Collie-kins got tired of being a beard! Or he found himself a nice boy to date and decided to let his big gay secret out. I'm sort of surprised she kept up the charade for so long, what's the point?"

"I'll take those as compliments." The younger girl grinned looking at Mack. She definitely couldn't argue with the older girl, she actually quite enjoyed acting like a know it all.

She couldn't help but laugh quite loudly at Mack's suggestions as to what might have happened. She was pretty sure the blond was right though. She turned and looked at Tatum again, still clearly laughing. "Yeah, I was thinking something along those lines."

Sera thought for a moment, looking was bit more serious but she still couldn't help an occasional smirk. She was pretty sure she knew what the point was but she could be wrong, it just seemed like the only thing that made sense really. "I think it was just easy with him, so it was hard to give up. If you're a girl who doesn't really want a boyfriend, Colin really couldn't be anymore perfect, right? Probably why she was with him so long too actually." She couldn't help but giggle a little. "She only had to see him when she wanted and was forbidden to tell him anything about where she actually is ninety percent if the time."

The younger reached into the basket that Jenny backed again and pulled out a juice bottle. Unscrewing the top she glanced down at Tatum again, and at Jenny and the others who were still busy eating and talking away. "It's pretty genius actually, I have to admit, if I ever need a fake boyfriend to trick dad, he'll definitely be from home."
