"Us against the world," Tatum confirmed, smiling slowly as her hand was taken, and she gave Mackenzie a reassuring squeeze back. It was all she could really offer to her friend, a little smile and some confidence. She didn't have anything else for her, even on a good day, which this certainly wasn't. They were both so emotionally drained, and while sleeping in the car was safe, it was a bit cramped. They were in no shape to take on a night like this, but they would just have to make due.

She took another hit from the joint, turning her head to exhale, and letting Mack's thumb rub over her hand, absently calming her down and giving her back some of the confidence she had been giving away. Despite what she told her friend, she was most worried about herself. She couldn't fuck this up, she had to just chill out and do whatever Mack needed.

"I'm ready," she agreed soon enough, rolling the window down half way and throwing the roach out into the parking lot before rolling it up tight again and glancing at Mack. She looked like hell, and Tatum wished she could do more. Her own mother had died, but long before she had a chance to even know her. Craig was only Mack's step-father, but she knew there was more there than the blonde let on. This was hurting her, and Tatum was having a hard time ignoring that fact, even if Mack was.

She glanced out of the window, as if expecting to see Hunter's truck roaring up behind them. The parking lot was gigantic, maybe she was even already here. That brought her worries about a fist fight to the front of her mind. They were going to kill each other if Hunter gave Mackenzie even the slightest prodding, and Tatum knew it. Sighing a little, she unbuckled and gently pulled her hand back from Mack's, picking up her latte from the cup holder instead and holding it in both hands.

"Just like.. t-tell me if I'm acting retarded. Or like, if you n-need something. I can go get stuff!" she suggested weakly. That was what Sera had told her to do, but it sounded sort of dumb out loud. What was she going to get for them? You really couldn't do much about a dead dad.
