Summary: Vinnie heads out for some sun after class and ends up running into Avery of all people.

It was almost summer break. Almost done with finals and school for the year. But almost wasn't quite good enough. Vinnie was absolutely dying to get home, to go swimming and hang out with his friends, go shopping in the city, go to a party or two or ten, see some of his local family, and hopefully make the trip to Italy for a couple of weeks to see other family. Italy was always like a home away from home for him, and he looked forward to every moment that he got to spend over there.

So for now, these last few weeks were nothing but heat and time dragging on and studying. It was enough to make him just head outside and linger after classes on the lawn of the commons. There was nothing really pressing to get done, and he was more than happy to put off studying for a little while and people-watch. He decided to make his way over to one of the benches that was both in the shade and unoccupied. That way he wouldn't die of sunstroke. Which would totally kill his summer plans.

Characters: Vinnie & Mackenzie.
Setting: Beauregard kitchens, Sunday afternoon after lunch.

Summary: Vinnie badgers Mack into helping him make struffoli and they talk about things like women do.

It was fairly hot to Vinnie, and baking didn't make it any better. Still, with a few carefully done charms it was at least comfortable in the kitchens. He had asked to be able to use the facilities again so that he could do some baking, and had coerced Mack into coming to be his sous chef. She should learn how to do some things, he thought, and he did love to cook and bake things from home. It made him much less homesick for his family that way.

"Ok, bella, if you could sift that flour there, I'll prep everything else?"

There was something very peaceful about cooking to the Italian. He didn't know if it was because it reminded him of home, or if it was because going over the steps had some sort of Zen mindset thing to it. Like how it wasn't the destination that mattered, but the journey. Or maybe he just liked to cook. Either way, Vinnie was happy being in the kitchen working with his hands. He looked to Mack with a smile to see what her answer was.

Summary: It's the Sadie Hawkins dance! Ladies choice, so get out there and have some fun!

There was a subtle theme for tonight's Sadie Hawkins dance. No bright lights, or obviously themed decorations. No shaped confetti or strange creatures wandering around dressed in costumes. No costumes were in evidence at all, in fact. There was nothing cheesy or funny or overdone or bright or overt about the hall for tonight's dance.

Instead, tonight, there was soft lighting in places (though not too soft. The chaperones made sure of that), blue and soft gold table decorations and centerpieces, and a dance floor with charmed candles high above to provide light to see and dance by. The candles were charmed to change colors with the music, much the way that Muggle lights were done in dance clubs and the like. It added atmosphere without looking gaudy. Here and there were the teachers who were going to be watching over things for the evening, there was a long refreshment table off to one side, and the tables for sitting and relaxing were staged around the dance floor. All in all, a subtly decorated place where students could come in and dance and mingle.

Setting: Random Run-in in the Beauregard Common room, Tuesday night

Summary: Vinnie is chasing after his familiar and bumps into a friend

"Dammit Frankie! You get back here right now or I swear, I will never let you listen to Dean Martin again. This time, I totally mean it too, capisce?"

This wasn't the first time that Vinnie's familiar got away on him. Frankie the mouse had a strong tendency to get away from him. Even though Vinnie swore that he put the lock back on the cage, and swore he put a shield charm around the cage too. There was just nothing that this mouse couldn't escape from.

Currently, Frankie's owner was on his hands and knees, going around the common room. Vinnie was looking under every chair, and in every possible hiding place there was. In potted plants, the fireplace, vents, under couches, in the TV stand, behind the bookshelf. he even went so far as to look up and see if there was a mouse-shaped shadow in one of the light fixtures on the ceiling. Unfortunately, he had not had luck yet in finding the furry rodent. Vinnie wanted to find him before one of the girls freaked out. Or Leon did. Sticking his head under the couch, the Italian Beauregard took another look around.

Setting: Beauregard Commons, just around lunchtime

Summary: Vinnie is setting up lunch for himself (another care package from momma) and meets Brody along the way

There was nothing like homemade food. Nothing in the world. Especially when you were Italian, and the food came from your grandmother, who was obviously the world's best cook. Second to her was your mother. This was just the way of things in Vinnie's life, and he loved every moment. He loved being a part of a huge family, loved having so many siblings, loved holidays at home, loved being surrounded by kids and adults at summer bar-b-ques and Christmas parties and the like. Sometimes, yeah it was nice to be away from them and at school where he almost had his own room. But he did miss them sometimes, especially when it got too quiet.

So they sent him food, and things from home that showed that they cared. But mostly food. As his mother put it, "And who knows what sort of things they think are edible at that school of yours? No no no, you get good things from me in the mail. You gotta eat, you're all skin and bones still." Hence the care packages packed with way too much food for him. This time was mostly antipasto things, finger food, and bread. Oh the bread. Vinnie's mother and older cousins made their own bread at home. This time, they put some sort of freshness charm on it so the bread was even still warm when he got it, fresh from the oven. he decided to make himself an al fresco lunch of bread and cheese, olives and mushrooms, some roasted peppers and prosciutto wrapped bread sticks, and eat in the common room. The table now set up with his family's offerings, he sat down to enjoy his lunch.

Summary: Reading a book (YES I KNOW) in the commons, Vinnie ends up looking at SOMEONE

Vinnie had enough of being indoors. His mother had called about 5 times already telling him to go out and enjoy the southern weather since New York was experiencing lots of rain and ice and snow, and he was finally taking his mother's advice and going outside to see the sun for a bit.

He had brought a book with him. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. His eldest brother had lent it to him, and though it was reading, and not for school, Vinnie was actually enjoying it. He wanted to have a motorcycle one day. Maybe one that was somehow wizarding enhanced, like to have storage space under the seat to put whatever he wanted to take with him. Or to have a Muggle police radar breaker. Or something cool like that. Not that he was really good at charms like that, but he was sure he knew a couple people who might be.

Pondering his future on a hog, Vinnie's mind wandered as he read, not really seeing the words anymore.

Summary: CCI kids welcome the New Year

Sam wasn't even sure he wanted to host a New Year's Eve party after his last night of the semester. It took some serious bro time and about ten pounds of candy corn, but he was finally cheered up enough to invite the upper academy to his house to celebrate the new year. He and Marina had spent setting up the house, making food, and convincing their parents that the house was not going to get wrecked while they were away.

A few charms and the house was glowing with silver snow flakes and 2011 balloons. The house was ready to go, parent free, and just waiting for the guests to arrive.
