Characters: Brody & Vinnie.
Setting: Beauregard common room, Saturday afternoon.
Rating: SFW.
Summary: Delicious foods all round.

Returning to school from break been nothing short of a bore so far. There still wasn't enough talk about what production they'd be doing in drama, she still didn't want to do the advanced herbology project due next week, and the only exciting thing in Brody's week was the quodpot victory the night before. And as amazing as that had been, now that the partying and rejoicing was over, she was just bored again.

There was nothing worse than a lack of stimulation. Even if she loved to spend days at a time lazing around, there had to be something to do today. It was a Saturday, for crying out loud! Where was everybody else at? Well, at least she didn't have to spend all of her time cooped up with Josh anymore. That was a blessing, if nothing else. Josh and his stupid friends.

Going outside for a cigarette had been Brody's only idea. And although the brief smoke only occupied a moment of her time, as the redhead was re-entering the Beauregard common room, she caught the whiff of something much better.

Someone was cooking. Or had been. And it smelled delicious.

Walking further into the room, and following her nose all of the while, Brody peered around for the source of the meal in question.

There was nothing better than a surprise care package from home. Nothing. Well... maybe something, if this was a usual care package. Vinnie's mother normally sent him baked goods, or new socks, or pictures of his siblings and some candy, just to show she missed him and she cared. There were definitely some things better than that.

But not for this one.

Nona must have cooked too... In this package was a veritable feast. Homemade pasta with homemade sauce, hand-made meatballs and sausage, Good crusty Italian bread and garlic bread, antipasto, bread sticks, tiramisu, zeppolis, and an assortment of other goodies were packed carefully into a box, notes from his family, jars of sauce, and an assortment of ingredients for making his own food. It was like Italian heaven in a box. The only thing missing was a soccer ball. Vinnie's mouth had watered juts looking at everything.

Naturally that night he set himself up with food in a corner of the house common room, instead of seeing what culinary adventure he could go on in the cafeteria. It was way, way more food than he could eat (even though the Beauregard boy could eat quite a bit) but Vinnie didn't mind. Leftovers were always amazing.

It didn't take long for Brody to locate Vinnie. When there was Italian cuisine involved, particularly tiramisu of all temptations so great, walls of steel couldn't keep her away. She swooped in without hesitation, stepping up behind the chair he had seated himself in, her hands grabbing his shoulders.

"Vincenzo, darling.. I shoulda known I'd find you at the end of this," she said, laughing a little and giving his shoulders a playful squeeze. "Trying to start 2011 off with a stomach-ache?"

Feeling hands on his shoulders, Vinnie almost jumped. When you were as involved in eating as he usually was, someone doing that was rather startling. As it was, though, Vinnie didn't startle often, or grandly. So all Brody got to see was a surprised expression on the Italian boy's face as he turned around.

"Well, if it isn't one of my favorite Quodpot players. Brody, bella, don'tcha know I have an iron stomach? Besides. This is Nona's cooking. Nothing her hand has touched would ever hurt me. You're welcome to find out for yourself, though. I got an extra fork, as it so happens..." With this much food, and the food being so very good, Vinnie always had extra utensils. You just had to be prepared in situations like this.

That was more of an invitation than Brody even required. Grinning, the red-haired girl moved to the chair beside him, pulling herself up to the table with glee, and reaching for the nearest free fork. "Always a man after my own heart, you are," she assured him, reaching for a slice of bread. Taking a bite, she could barely suppress a groan. Perfectly toasted and so garlicy, perfect.

"Vin, I think I just had a breadgasm, holy shit."
