She hoped she didn't look or sound as stupid as she felt, numbly lifting up her free hand to to Alex's and giving it a weak little shake. Her father had always tried to teach her and Sera how to give a proper handshake, but it always came out weak and unsure, timid. Unlike Sera, who would tear the arm off of a bodybuilder with the firmness of her shake. But then again, Sera wanted to do work where she would do a lot of hand-shaking. It was all part of her life plan or something. Politicans needed to shake hands and kiss babies.
"Uhm, hi," she finally managed, her voice cracking a bit and making her quickly clear her throat, looking embarrassed. "She uhm, really took me, but I uh.. well, y-you know how it is. She needed m-me," the redhead rambled, quickly regretting it. That sounded stupid, she lowered her eyes, still trying to keep up a little smile. They both should have known this was a bad idea, she was just too awkward with strange people. How was she ever supposed to be a doctor, meeting new people every day? She was an idiot.
