"I'd like to keep my toes in tact, but thanks for the offer," he said, giving her a lop-sided grin. He found himself wanting to be closer to her... deciding this space between them was too large. He subtly shifted his hands so they no longer rested on her hips, but a couple of inches back, onto her lower back. They were only marginally closer, but it was enough for now.
