open to joshua
Andrew still wasn't quite adjusted to staying at the haven, but he was managing. He went back to Seattle for a weekend on his own and the house had just felt empty without Joshua. He was back in Cold Water by Friday night to stay at the haven with his boyfriend. It was so strange how Joshua had changed from something he'd bought, to someone he loved. Andrew was still struggling with not bossing the kid around. Now that Joshua was part of a pack, he had a much stronger back bone, and that was new as well.

It was nearing the evening when Andrew's car pulled up, an expensive 1967 navy blue Mustang. It was new, something he'd bought that morning when he was bored and alone. It was actually for Joshua, if the boy wanted it. At least for them to share, or something. Andrew knew that Joshua wouldn't straight out accept it if he tried to give it to him, but if Andrew said it was theirs, then Joshua would.

He headed up the steps and into the house, having learned that he was allowed to just walk in a long time ago, and was immediately hit with the smell of a home cooked meal. That was one thing he really did love about the haven. There was always so much good food. He headed for the kitchen first, to see if maybe Joshua was there.

Andrew's lips curled up into an amused sort of smile as he swept his fingers up through Joshua's hair. He gently pulled the boy's head downwards, and he pressed a kiss to Joshua's mouth.

"You're adorable when you pout," he mumbled softly. "It really won't be that long. Maybe you can ask Mabel to teleport you halfway around the world for a few hours a day," he teased, though really... He kind of really wished she would.

He had to perk up at the kiss, his body didn't allow otherwise and he silently cursed the fact that Andrew knew how to soften his resolve about nearly anything--at least momentarily.

But the idea about Mabel really did sound like the solution, though he didn't know the woman very well. She was probably pretty busy with her cafe and her ingredient gathering, but she was a friend of Hunter's. Maybe she could be convinced to at least help him visit Joshua. "I wonder if she would," he mused with a determined gleam in his eye. He was going to make a pest of himself, clearly.

	Andrew loved that little gleam. It was perfect. He kissed Joshua again, and gave the boy's hips a little squeeze before he dipped his head down and brushed his mouth against Joshua's shoulder. "Lets go for a walk," he said softly. "We can talk some more and maybe find a nice place to makeout." And possibly a little more than just making out. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"When do you have to leave?" Joshua asked as he uncurled himself from the car, opening the door and stretching himself up and out. He whispered to himself, begged the cosmos that it wasn't at least for another night or two. He really wasn't going to be able to stand this and part of him wanted to just tell Julian and Jeremiah to stick close to Hunter and take off with Andrew. If there was learning to be done, maybe Joshua could even glean some information off of the older sorcerer. He'd been desperate to learn some tricks, convinced that he could pull them off if only Andrew would show him how it was done.

Andrew slipped out of the car and snagged a hold of Joshua's hand so that he could follow him towards the woods. Andrew hadn't really ever been in them, and he wanted to see what Joshua's world was like as a wolf. Eventually, he wanted to see Joshua was a wolf. He hated that Logan had, and he hadn't.

"Next week," he answered, giving Josh's hand a playful tug. "So we better make the most of it."

Breathing a sigh of relief, he nodded and felt a well of excitement at the prospect of taking a walk in the woods with Andrew. He would do almost anything to merge what felt like the two sides of himself. On the one hand, there was his wanderlust, his love of the city and being alone with Andrew in a big lavish house. On the other hand, there was his need to protect his brothers, his connection to the forest, and his wolf. This was a little slice of both and he paused to take off his shoes so he could feel the earth beneath them as they walked. The ground wasn't the most hospitable place for bare feet, but Joshua was used to it by now.

"I can almost remember what it's like to be a wolf. It's coming fast. I feel like maybe I could be safe." Apart from the fact that he'd nearly killed Izzy last week. A minor glitch, he thought.

Andrew hadn't ever really taken the time to walk in the woods. He honestly hadn't taken any time for nature, and it felt strange to be beneath a cover of trees overhead with nothing but the blue sky. He tipped his head up to look at the clouds before he turned his attention back to Joshua.

"Yeah?" he said softly, "Maybe I can see you as a wolf then, sometime soon. I've been thinking about it a lot."

	"You have?" Joshua grinned. He just liked to hear that Andrew was thinking about him, anything to do with him. "Well, maybe we can try now, or at least before you leave. Hunter doesn't have to know." Hunter probably would know, just because he had a way of knowing everything, but Joshua was convinced that he could get away with things if he was just careful enough. "You know he'd know," Andrew said with a faint laugh as he moved to lean up against one of the trees, and he tugged Joshua towards him. He dipped his head down as his arms wound around his boyfriend's waist, and he brushed a kiss to Joshua's shoulder. "My Mom asked if you were coming with me. She was like, 'is your boyfriend coming', and I just... I really liked the way that sounded, you know?"

"Are you scared of Hunter?" Joshua teased when Andrew reminded him that Hunter would know if he shifted. He wrinkled his nose, now wanting to do so more than ever.

But Andrew's talk of his mother distracted him momentarily. "I wish I was coming with you," he sighed and leaned in against the other. "I'd like to spend time with your parents. You know--force them to show me embarrassing baby pictures of you." It was a very amusing and domestic thought. "I like the way 'boyfriend' sounds too."

"I wouldn't let them show you any embarrassing pictures," Andrew murmured as he pressed his nose against the top of Joshua's head. He liked how soft it was, and the way that the boy smelled. "You know that's what you are, right?" he asked after a moment as his hand slid beneath Joshua's shirt and up along his back. "I know it didn't start out that way for us, but it's what you are. I'm sorry that we met the way we did, but I'm not sorry that we met."

Joshua was quiet for a long moment as he took those words in. It was so nice to hear and even if he'd gotten the distinct feeling that Andrew was his official boyfriend, neither of them had outright said it.

"I know," he finally said. "Me too." He wasn't sorry about anything that had happened because the boys had gotten here safely and Joshua had met Andrew in the process.

After a moment, he spoke again, this time his voice uncertain and thoughtful. "Do you think that--I don't know--that maybe my grandfather feels that way about Izzy?"

	Andrew was quiet as he mulled over Joshua's question. He closed his eyes and let his mouth find it's way to Joshua's neck, and he kissed the side of it before he just relaxed with a sigh. "Maybe?" he said uncertainly, and his fingers curled inwards so that his nails scratched gently against Joshua's skin. "After you I think anything's possible, though." Joshua always struggled with neck kissing. He liked it so much, but only because it struck something within him that got his adrenalin pumping. Andrew always knew the right time to do it too.

He sighed and nodded. Maybe was a better answer than yes or no. He wasn't sure he was ready to believe that his grandfather could love anything. But he was right in the middle of a relationship that had started on similar terms. "Definitely look into his history with your parents," he finally decided upon before he tugged back from Andrew.

"Catch me?" he said as he tilted his head playfully. He knew these woods pretty well by now and he wanted some fun with Andrew. With beyond human agility, he wheeled and started to run, ducking into the woods. He hadn't said Andrew couldn't use magic, he just hoped that whatever spell would end the game quickly would escape Andrew's mind.

Looking into Jason would be easy enough. His father had a lot of connections, and he was an amazing sorcerer. Andrew was looking forward to finding out about the man and telling Joshua what he needed to know, he wanted to help.

When Joshua pulled away from him to take off into the woods, Andrew made a grabbing motion to try and catch him before he even took off. He laughed when he missed, and he took a moment to do a charm to lock onto Joshua's essence. A soft blue glow illuminated the air in front of him and took off, and he started to follow after it.

Joshua could feel a prickle at the base of his neck, but he didn't realize that it was a spell. He thought it was simply the thrill of being chased. Sprinting as fast as he could, he darted into deep brush, pushing through it with little regard for any little cuts he was getting from the branches scraping against his arms. Instinct told him how to move quietly and if he hadn't been glowing blue, he would have disappeared easily into the woods.

He was trying to get far enough ahead to shift. The running made his wolf rise to the surface and he'd known full well that having Andrew chase him would push the shift along even faster. He was a clever boy, well versed in manipulating the situation to get what he wanted or needed. When he thought he had a good enough lead, he went skidding to the forest floor, letting it come, roll over him with a great burst of the kind of primitive magic that made a werewolf what it was.

The moment that Joshua shifted, Andrew felt it. There was a sensation that prickled through the air, and he actually came to a stop as he paused to tip his head upwards. The essence in the air that belonged to Joshua, the one that Andrew had been following, had changed from a light blue to a very brilliant and bright one. Andrew wasn't entirely sure what had happened, but he could guess, and instead of trying to run into the woods to find Joshua he decided to just walk. He followed the bright blue trail, his feet crunching against the leaves.

Maybe it was a terrible idea. Maybe he should have just turned back and went to find Hunter, or left Joshua alone, but he felt like he had to see the boy in his wolf form. He was about to leave for a month, maybe two. Waiting just didn't seem like an option at the moment.

Joshua's mind was far back in the recesses of the white wolf's brain. His dominant personality showed through, but that was often dangerous with such a young wolf who felt the need to prove himself to anything and everything. When he caught wind of Andrew's scent, it did profound things to him and he stopped to lift his shiny black nose in the air to pluck out its origins. His fur stood on end, a white ridge down his spine because he knew something powerful was walking toward him.

It was on his territory too. How dare it! But it smelled so good too. Something that might be good to eat, something he wanted to put his mouth on, get close to. Taking off toward it, Joshua kept his head low and his footsteps as silent as possible. He still didn't have a clue that sneaking up on the man wasn't really an option, no matter how much skill he may or may not have had.

All ready Andrew was sifting through the spells he'd memorized in his head, trying to think of one that might help him just in case he needed it. He could levitate up into one of the trees, and watch Joshua come into view. He had a feeling that the wolf was going to coming to find him, after all. Joshua was very dominant, and in wolf form Andrew was sure it was even stronger. He knew a spell to reverse a shift, but he had told himself he wouldn't ever use that at the haven. It would be disrespectful to Hunter... But if came down to his safety, he would. He knew how to draw memories out, to help people remember certain things, and he wondered if maybe that would help.

Before he had time to think too much, he heard Joshua tramping through the brush. Andrew's heart rate picked up, and he glanced up at the trees before he closed his eyes to mumble a spell. Soon enough he was up in the trees, and he grabbed a branch to pull himself up so that he could sit.

Joshua broke into view, but Andrew had gone up already and the wolf didn't think to check in that direction just yet. He sniffed around where Andrew had been standing and he let out a whine, unable to prevent himself from mourning the fact that the man wasn't there anymore. But he could still smell him.

Nosing the spot for quite awhile longer, Joshua was becoming distressed. He didn't understand why, but he needed this smell, he needed to touch it, see it, taste it. The hostility was draining out of him and all that was left was excitement and sorrow. He circled in one spot and flopped down, not very good at tracking and giving up with a huge defeated sigh.

Despite how often Joshua in wolf form had been described to him, nothing could have prepared Andrew for the sight of it. The moment the white wolf broke into view, Andrew was completely awe struck and taken by it. Joshua was beautiful as a human, and he was just as lovely as a wolf. The color of his coat was like snow, and his legs were so long, so long that it almost looked as if he should be clumsy but he was anything but. He was graceful. The way he moved was beautiful.

When the wolf sniffed around and whined, Joshua leaned forward to keep an eye on him. He was completely fascinated. The second Josh flopped down, Andrew bit down on his lower lip for a moment.

"Joshua?" he called out, getting a little brave.

On his feet immediately, Joshua threw his head back to look up at the noise. He pulled his lip back and showed his teeth, but not snarl came. After he'd gotten over being startled, he simply sat down and cocked his head to the side. His tail was still, not making a move against the ground. Bright blue eyes peered up and there was very little that was human about them.

Finally, Joshua got up and hoisted himself up so that his front paws were up on the tree trunk and he started barking at the mysterious man. Why wouldn't he come down?

Andrew was sure that when Joshua was human again, and he remembered this since he was remembering more and more, that he'd be pretty amused that Andrew had ended up in a tree.

As the wolf stared up at him, Andrew wasn't sure if Joshua was really in there or not. Well, he knew that the boy was, but he didn't see much of him and that made Andrew nervous. The barking did nothing to help. A part of him wanted to send a spark down to pelt Joshua in the nose, but he knew better. The last thing he wanted to do was piss off a dominant wolf.

"I'm not coming down if you look like you're going to eat me," he told the wolf.

The man's voice was wonderful and it made Joshua's heart leap in his chest. He didn't understand the words themselves outright, but they sounded wary, conditional. Joshua was pretty sure he didn't want to hurt the strange creature in the tree so he sat down and after a long moment, he inched down into a lying position. Putting his head heavily onto his paws, he kept his eyes trained as far upward as he could. See? He wasn't going to hurt anyone. Though his tail was chomping at the bit to thump against the ground, but he worried even that movement would scare the prey--person--friend--he'd almost decided on friend.

Andrew kept his gaze locked steadily on Joshua, just reading the white wolf's body language. There wasn't anything threatening, really. Mostly it seemed that they were both just curious about one another.

Eventually, Andrew got brave enough to let go of the branch he was holding onto so that he could float his way down. It took some concentration, which was difficult because he was trying to keep an eye on Joshua at the same time.
