Logan was steering clear of Joshua, as much as he could, anyway. No matter how much he'd grown to care for Moon, when it came to Joshua there was always a lingering connection that he just couldn't shake and it made him feel guilty. So in the end, it was just best to avoid him as much as possible. He kind of got the idea that Josh felt the same way, too. Out of all the wolves in the pack, Josh's was the one he could feel a connection to on a level that he knew was just different. He hated it. But now, a bigger connection was building with Moon.

The boy was doing well enough with his shifts and he was learning to control his wolf that he didn't have to be locked up anymore. He still had to stick close to the main house, though. There was just no way around that. Logan would go to Seattle on Thursdays and he'd be back every Sunday morning. It was getting harder and harder to leave Moon behind, that was for sure, but he had his job at the tattoo shop.

It was Sunday morning and he'd just pulled up. He could feel that Joshua was on a run and he frowned as he glanced towards the woods. Andrew was around somewhere, too. With a sigh, he turned and headed up the porch steps to slip inside and he went straight for the kitchen where Moon usually was by this time, helping Wendell.

Moon had never felt so frustrated in his whole life. He'd been excited to see them together, doing whatever they'd been doing. It made his entire body feel alive. Now they were fighting and more apart than they'd ever been before, or so it seemed. He followed after Logan, not wanting to be alone, though he hadn't gotten nearly enough running in to tire him out.

Logan tugged on his clothes before he settled down in the grass and stretched out so that Moon could lay with him. He wasn't about to just leave him all on his own in the woods smack dab in the middle of a shift. When Moon settled next to his side, Logan draped an arm over him and pressed his face against the fur of the wolf's neck with a sigh.

He could feel the sadness seeping out of Logan and he tried his best to be warm and comforting. He hoped that this all hadn't been his fault.

An hour later, Moon was finally able to shift back. It had been his shortest shift yet and that showed that he was at least gaining some control. But it had been hard on his body and he groaned. The memories had slipped away like they always did, but some fragments of them remained and he looked up to find Logan. "What happened?"

When Moon shifted back, Logan pressed his nose against the top of the boy's head. He held his breath for a moment before he rolled onto his back with a quiet sigh, and he rubbed at his face with one of his hands.

"You went to find Joshua, and you did, but he was angry. He was going to attack you, but I came and I submitted to him. And you did, too. He liked that, but then - I don't know, something happened... Joshua and I ended up fucking and we shifted back in the middle of it all and we finished that way, but he's upset. He left."

Connecting the little remnants of memory with a direct account helped Moon to begin to solidify the ability to keep his memories from when he was a wolf. He was learning quickly.

"Oh," was all he said though, processing all of that. When a vivid image of Joshua and Logan having sex flashed across his mind, his tan skin went pink and he squirmed a little. "I saw all of it, didn't I."

"Yeah, you did," Logan said quietly as he let his fingers slip through Moon's hair before he offered a sigh through his nose. "I don't think he's ever going to speak to me again," he added with a bitter laugh. "But I guess he got what he wanted so he doesn't have to."

"I don't think that's what he wanted, Logan. He's got an alpha in him. If he wanted it, he would have done it a long time ago." He wasn't really defending the other wolf, but he was openly analyzing as he pieced things together.

He was sad that Joshua was upset, mainly because that meant his little fantasy of his own personal family might never come to pass.

Logan closed his eyes and swallowed hard as he gathered Moon up and pulled him closer. He just wanted the other closer to him. Needed the comfort.

"I know, it's just - it'll never work. Andrew is going to go ballistic, and Joshua loves Andrew so much. And I understand that, I do. But I don't think that Andrew will understand," he frowned.

"What will happen to them?" He thought Logan had all the answers, even to the most difficult questions. He looked up to him a great deal and deferred to him in most things. If Joshua ever did come into their little relationship, Moon was not sure how the dynamics would work. Would he have to defer to Joshua more? "Josh still doesn't like me," he sighed. "He was probably mad that I was there."

"I'm not sure," Logan said as shook his head a little with a heavy sigh. "If Joshua loses him then - I don't know... I don't know what he'll do," he frowned. "He'll probably blame me and hate me forever, fuck," he muttered as he closed his eyes and swallowed hard. "And a part of him liked that you were there. You submit like - it's perfection. He liked that a lot."

"Que se necesitan dos," he said quietly. It takes two. "He was the one inside of you. He could have stopped. He shouldn't blame you." Moon didn't understand how good it was for Joshua to play like the top dog. He was drawn to it and Andrew couldn't give him that feeling. It wasn't fair.

"Perfection?" he smiled at that, pride seeping into his expression.

When moon said 'he was the one inside of you', Logan felt his body react. He shifted around a little and opened his eyes with a soft sigh.

"Yeah, I've got some dominance in me - Joshua knows that. I submitted, but it was mostly to appease him. You did it because you wanted to, because it's what you were born to do. So it's just... different," Logan tried to explain.

He understood a little and gave a nod before drawing his finger over the earth, doodling something inconsequential. "I don't think that anyone will lose anyone. These things happen. Andrew will forgive Joshua and Joshua will forgive you and you will forgive Joshua."

"I've all ready forgiven Joshua," Logan said very quietly as he stretched his legs out. It was early afternoon by now, and he was starting to grow hungry. "We should head back, get something for lunch in our stomachs," he suggested before he pulled away so that he could reach for Moon's clothes and hand them over.

Moon sighed. This was not how he'd pictured his run to go and he pushed the clothes away. "I'm not hungry yet. You go ahead. I'll catch up later, okay?" He didn't want to abandon Logan when he was feeling bad, but he needed to simmer in this for a little while.

Logan sighed softly before he got to his feet and started to trudge his way back the house. He wasn't sure what he wanted. A part of him just wanted to go back to Seattle and not come back for a while, but he couldn't just leave Moon like that. He slipped inside the house and went to rummage around the kitchen while he sulked on his own.

Joshua was in the kitchen and maybe Moon had sensed that well enough to leave Logan to his own devices. Maybe the little wolf was finally learning to avoid him. But when Joshua saw Logan, he turned and left, not wanting to deal with it still. He did not like turning tail and running, but he was in a place where he didn't know what to do and running seemed his only option.

Logan followed after him this time, and he reached out to snag Joshua by the arm so that he couldn't just run off.

"Wait," he said softly. "Don't be like this. We didn't - I didn't mean to, I'm sorry," he said with a frown. "Don't avoid me, please. Not after that."

Joshua ripped his arm away so fast that he fell backwards like an oaf and just sat there on the floor growling. When he got a hold of himself and picked himself back up, he wrapped his arms around his waist. "That shouldn't have happened. The worst thing is that I did mean to. I meant to fuck you. I've wanted to for the longest time. Since I set eyes on you and smelled you and you smelled like home in a way that I know Andrew can't. I hate you for complicating things. I hate you."

It all just came spilling out of him and he felt like crying. Mostly he just hated himself for being so untrue to the person he loved and he hated life for being so unfair.

Logan couldn't help but feel wounded over Joshua's words, and it was written all over his face. He swallowed hard and he looked away from Joshua before he turned to head up the stairs so that he could go to his room. He was going to wait for Moon to come back and then he was going to head back to Seattle for the rest of the week. He couldn't handle this, he just couldn't.

For the first time since he'd come here, Joshua felt completely alone. His brothers were too young to understand and Andrew was going to hate him. He'd lost everything in the span of an afternoon and he stormed back outside, deciding to just go for a walk, a very very long walk.

Moon saw Joshua leave and he jogged back inside, taking a moment to breathe in and find the trail that Logan had left. He followed it upstairs. "That was fast," he said softly.

Logan was so upset that he was on the verge of tears. He was sitting on the edge of the bed with his face in his hands when Moon came in, and he just sighed quietly.

"I think I need to go back to Seattle, I can't stay here - everything's a mess now," he muttered.

Hunter wouldn't let Moon go so far away from the pack yet and so that meant leaving him behind. Moon tried very hard not to look hurt or disappointed. "I understand," he said quietly, staring down at his feet as he stood in the doorway.

Logan could feel the disappointment coming off of Moon in waves, and finally lowered his hands to look over at him. He sighed softly and got up so that he could go to him, and he dipped his head down and brushed a kiss to his mouth.

"I love you, you know," he mumbled quietly.

He nodded, swallowing, throat working to keep his uncertainty down. He'd been so positive that this would be easy for all of them but nothing seemed to be as simple as Moon thought it was going to be. It made him feel cut loose, floating on waves of ever changing tides.
