Star City after school
The second she got out of school, Mia made her way to the youth center where she'd been volunteering at. While she always enjoyed going and spending time with the kids, today she was looking forward to it just a bit more than usual.

Today, Conner was flying after he got done with school for the day to help out.

She was enjoying spending time with him. He was a lot of fun, and he was a nice guy. It was a nice bonus that he was cute too.

When Mia got to the youth center, she waited outside for Conner.

"You leave them alone, you bad man!" Kelly shouts from the group of children behind Speedy and Superboy. She is /so/ going to be Speedy when she grows up.

"Oh shut up!" Metallo yells. He raises an arm to block the incoming arrows from Speedy, and gets a bit of a shock as he realizes that those are taser arrows.

"I'm going to take that bow and ram it down your pretty little throat, girl." Metallo says, reaching out to swat at Speedy.

	Superboy isn't in great shape from the Kryptonite, but he's got enough presence of mind to reach out and grab Metallo's foot to slow him down from attacking Mia. "Don't...touch her!" he growls, using both hands to hold him, before Metallo turns and kicks him in the face, sending him flying across the room. Superboy sails through a wall and is slow to rise again. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Metallo picked up one of the tables that the children were previously sitting at and chucked it in Speedy's direction.

"Someone should teach you some manners, you little tramp." he says, tossing another table at her.

"All you had to do was let me take the kid. But /noooo/, you had to be Miss Goody Two-Shoes, you and your little Superboyfriend over there.

Oh, and when I'm done killing you, I'm going to kill him in front of all of these kids." he says.

Conner was still dazed from the Kryptonite and Metallo's savage attack caught him off-guard. He was still getting up when he heard what Corben threatened to do to Mia, and then the kids.

/That/ made him angry.

Heedless of his own safety, Superboy runs at Metallo and wraps his arms around the cyborg from behind. He then lifts off, flying the two of them through the ceiling of the Youth Center. He wants to keep the battle away from Mia and the kids, even if it means that Corben kills him with the Kryptonite.

Said Kryptonite begins to interfere with Superboy's powers again, and the pair falls from the sky, smashing into the street just outside the Youth Center.

Metallo gets up first and proceeds to punch Superboy in the face repeatedly.

"Now. You. Die." he says, punching Conner over and over.

	"Superboy!" Speedy cried out, avoiding be pinned under a table. Okay....now he was going to get it. Speedy ran at Metallo, springing onto his back. She grabbed a taser arrow out of her quiver, and brought it down to stab into the side of Metallo's neck. Not to kill, but... he was REALLY going to feel it. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	These superheroes were like cockroaches! Every time you stomp on into the pavement another shows up to crawl all over you. Mia's taser arrow has a much greater effect this time, forcing Corben away from Superboy. He staggers his way to the sidewalk, trying to pull the arrow out of his neck. 	Metallo was still recovering from the taser arrow, the item still sparking. He manages to recover it from his neck around the same time that Mia reaches for the chunk of Kryptonite. She takes hold of the Kryptonite and flings it away, earning a pained scream from Metallo. He raises a fist, intending to smash the young woman to death before she can move away. Superboy interposes himself between Speedy and Metallo, blocking the blow with his own arm, his strength returning. Conner then reaches back and delivers a thunderous right cross to Metallo's face, knocking him two blocks down the street and into a streelight post before he collapses to the floor unconscious.

Suddenly, the children from the Youth Center crowd around Superboy and Speedy, cheering for them.

"You guys saved us!"

"Conner and Mia are gonna be sorry they missed this!"

"Can we have autographs!"

"Is it hard to use a bow and arrow?"

The questions come at them in a rush.

"Actually, kids, Speedy is pretty hungry and it's hard for Archer Girls to concentrate on an empty stomach. So, um, obey your elders, stay in school, and...take your vitamins!" Superboy says, scooping up Speedy, then lifting off.

"Are you okay?" Conner asks, once they land on a rooftop a couple of blocks away. He also visually checks her over to make sure that she isn't cut or bleeding.

Conner has to stop himself before he agrees to Mia's cover story, and he has to mentally check himself so that he does not tell her that he can make this believable with his powers.

"Usually, I just climb out from under something that fell down and pretend I was trapped the whole time. It's worked for Superman a few times, too." Conner adds.

But we really could have gone to the back to make-out. It's not like anyone saw us...

Shut up.

"The first option was great. /Is/ great! I mean, who wouldn't want to...I mean, it's a good idea, but just hard to pull off logistically." Conner infers.

Are you /still/ talking?

"Okay, well, I got kicked into a wall near the bathroom. I think I'm fast enough to make it stick. What about you? Do you need help with your story at all?

If we hurry, we can probably make it back before anyone notices we're not there. Maybe you got locked in a closet?" he suggests.

Conner again gathered Mia up and flew them back to the Youth Center, landing them at the back of the building so no one could see them sneak in.

"Okay, we've got this." he says, going to open the back door and finding it locked. A quick application of his strength and its forced open.

He grins at Mia, then dashes inside and situates himself under some of the rubble near the bathroom, grabbing his normal clothes on the way and changing.

"Um, is anyone out there?" he calls out, from under the rubble.
