Paint It Black (JSA)
It was a quiet night in New York City. People went about their business, rushing on the streets to get home, hailing taxis to get out of the brisk winter air. At the JSA Brownstone, all was well and good.

Then something happened. The sound of shattered glass could be heard shattering, and alarm klaxons blared. The team would soon find that Black Lanterns had arrived, and were closing in on the team of heroes.

"It is happening," he said and then pulled up. He went back at her, reaching for her heart.

Wendi kept herself vibrating, semi-intangible to any contact.

She took a deep breath and rammed into the Black Lantern at her top speed, pushing them through the walls of the building and continuing to run.

As he was pushed back through the wall he reached for her heart.

Wendi just kept going faster and faster. The world around the two seems to blur and distort as she approached luminal speeds.

Johnny kept up with her and tried to rip her heart out through her chest. He wasn't above trying to trip her either.

Come on... just a little faster...

She'd never gone this fast before. There was a danger in speedster going all out. And even though her top speed should have been under the barrier enough, when you went so fast physics started to break down...

Wendi pushed her speed to its fullest. They'd never really tested to see if she was faster or slower than her mom, though she knew she was just a bit slower than the West twins.

But right now, speed was everything. She said the formula again and again. It shouldn't have worked. She needed a recharge between uses. Except that should all be in her head, right? It was just the Miraclo she'd inherited in her blood that was dangerous to overuse.

It was like being everywhere at once...

She passed the Black Lantern and circled back around the globe, coming up behind it with the kinetic energy of a meteor strike.

The strike hit and the black lantern was blown to bits. Just as quick, the bits started pulling back together.

The problem with reaching the kind of speed that Wendi has was, truthfully, stopping.

Even with the Black Lantern apparently down, she continued run, unable to slow down.
