Doctor's Orders
With the whole world going to Hell Kyle hadn't really had time to react to or deal with it. He was to busy working to save lives working in the emergency room. He hadn't given himself a break since he started his shift and he was now in overtime.

In a couple hours he probably would have to let himself crash. He wouldn't be of any help to anyone if he didn't and likely to make stupid mistakes that could have otherwise been avoided.

He was going around making his rounds and checking up on old patients before he started up on new ones again.

The laser hit the ring and heated it up, but it didn't destroy it. The other two lanterns advanced on Kyle.

Kyle kept at it with the laser there really wasn't much more he could do but pray for a miracle.

With everything going on he didn't notice the laser machine starting to seriously heat up.

The laser took huge chunks out of the black lanterns, but it only slowed them down. It didn't stop them.

This was not going good but at least hopeful he gave people sometime to escape with his little distraction.

It was around this time the heat build up had reached critical level and the laser exploded in a brilliant explosion of white light.

Kyle eyes felt like they were burning as he was knocked flying backwards into a wall hard and then everything faded to black.
