Um... Hi.
He'd been suspicious the moment Rosie'd said GK'd called her up and 'given permission' for Jed to come and check on him in Star City. Of course Rosie'd asked him to.

At "So, how about lunch with my buddy Zoe and her Mom? Better than hanging around in my apartment. It being in a basement and all," Jed was pretty sure he knew what was going on. He wondered if Mom and Rosie'd offered to raise the kid's allowance or something.

At "Ms. Torres, this is my Uncle Jed. Uncle Jed, Zoe and I are going to go ahead and get some shopping done. See you soon," Jed.... considered suggesting Mom and Rosie raise the kid's allowance.

Michelle was fine with the quiet as they each enjoyed their food. She wasn't someone that needed to fill a conversation lull with unnecessary chatter, a habit her daughter picked up as well. She did wonder if it would be forward to offer an exchange of email. It had been far too long since she tried to carry on a social life.

Given that her life before Zoe involved an exchange of services for cash...it was safe to say she'd never had a normal personal life.

She quickly changed the mental subject and smiled at the waiter for refilling her water glass.

"Black appears to be the color of choice in Zoe's closest. If GK can get her to wear anything that could be considered colorful, he's a miracle worker." Michelle glanced toward the entrance, almost convinced she'd see the two looking in the window at them. "I worried that she would get attached to the wrong sort of boy, which can happen all too easily in the Triangle. Gang members, drug dealers, that type. GK is practically the girlfriend she didn't have growing up."

The words had just tumbled and Michelle covered her mouth, her cheeks pink with embarrassment. "That didn't come out the way I meant it."

"It's okay. He dislikes it when people confuse him for a girl, but in general he embraces the stereotypes. I won't tell. And Oh, I can sympathize -- not in the Triangle sense, but there's a certain Walker tradition of bad luck with men, and he tends to pine over guys who look like... well, the kind of guys who might give a guy pining over them a black eye. So I'm glad he's got someone good to be spending his time with."

	"Zoe doesn't put up with bullies. She's exceptionally protective. I would go so far to say that if GK involved himself with that sort of guy, it wouldn't last because she would put an end to it." It was something Michelle knew all too well. Zoe had Floyd's cold reserve, but not, she hoped, his utter disregard for anything but 'the contract'. Floyd's excessive vices for alcohol and drugs seemed to have skipped Zoe, something Michelle gave thanks for nightly.

"Zoe's father was killed in gang crossfire when she was three," she said quite truthfully. "He was a good man in his way. He left enough to take care of us while I went back to school and raised her."

	"Glad to hear he had a sense of responsibility," Jed says sincerely, quietly. "My mother's lawyer didn't want to man up to his mistakes and committed suicide before GK was born.
