She had felt the need to tease him. Just to try and get rid of some of the tension she feels. She thought he might have chuckled too. She guesses that he didn't get the joke.
And now he is complimenting her so she can feel herself blushing. "I... Um. Thank you. You don't need to...um."
Aw hell this was awkward.
