Fears and deeper thoughts (Harry)
Jess wasn't one to share what she really thought about things. She just kept a brave and stubborn face because she thought if she pushed herself long and hard enough that it would all become true. Of course that still didn't change her waking up freaked out in the middle of the night from a nightmare.

She stumbled in the dark to the kitchen intending on getting a drink to calm her nerves. But as she was getting the juice the worst thing happened.

Big. Hairy. Spider.

She squeaked and dropped both the juice and the cup scrambling backwards.

Oh for crying out loud. It's just a spider. That she can't let near her. It's obviously evil.

	It's been a long day for Harry so he decides to crash at the HQ instead of teleporting home, it was less lonely here, and he didn't have anything important to do the next day anyway. A crash jolts him awake and, judging the sound to be coming from the kitchen, he teleports there in a flash. "Jess? Are you okay?!" Harry rushes over to her, checking to see if she's hurt. He doesn't see any clear injuries but it's clear she's not okay. Giving her a concerned look, he then looks back to check what could have surprised her so much, and sees the spider. It's larger than average but nothing he finds to worrisome. Giving her a reassuring smile he puts his hand on top of hers to comfort her, "Don't worry I'll get rid of it for you."

Soon he'll have the spider in the palm of his hand, which he makes sure she can see it's there and with him before he teleports away and leaves it in a nearby park.

When he gets back he shoots her another smile to reassure her, "It's gone. Feeling a little better?"

	He's not stuttering or blushing right now, he's too concerned and is focused on making sure she's okay to even be nervous. "It's alright. No big deal. It's gone now, can't hurt you." 	"It's....Kinda weird." She glances at his hand. He isn't freaking out over this and here she is on the verge of hiding in her room. She hates feeling so weak like she does right now. "I get really freaked out if I'm in an enclosed space without lights.... when I was a kid these bullies locked me in a shed for the whole afternoon. There were spiders." He sits quietly, he's used to listening to people's troubles so he's become a good listener, and when she finishes he frowns a little, "That's not weird Jess. Those guys shouldn't have-" He stops himself because hearing that someone had done that to her, to anyone but especially to her, angered him a little. "It's okay to be scared of stuff. That doesn't mean you're weak."

"It was my fault. I got in over my head, they'd been harassin' this kid that couldn't stick up fer himself... shoulda done that differently," Jess rumbles looking unhappy with herself. "I can... I couldn't get over being stuck there no matter how much time passed.... The Cyborg reminded me of how scared I got, ya know. I made lotsa noise just so I wouldn't totally shut down."

Why is she telling him this? Damn it, she doesn't need to.

"Jess," he stops her, "It's not your fault okay? They locked you in, it's their fault. And you were doing a good thing helping that kid, you shouldn't beat yourself up over it." Harry looks at her very seriously now, "You're the bravest person I know and being scared of something doesn't change that in the least. If anything it means you're braver cause you got you and Lenny out of there despite it." She clearly needs a hug he thinks so he carefully wraps his arms around her and pulls her in close.

	"Sorry," she mutters not sure why she's saying this. "I'm kinda still teetering on a freak out... Dunno why." She relaxes though because the hug has a grounding effect on her. It makes things better. She won't question it right now. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"You don't need to be sorry for anything," he says quietly and holds her close for a bit.

Glancing around the still dark living room, even with the lamp he's turned on it's rather gloomy, he realizes it might not be the best place to make her feel better.
"Want to go somewhere a bit...brighter Jess? C'mon it'll make you feel better I promise." He gets up off the couch and offers her his hands and gives her an encouraging smile.

Harry gives her his brightest smile and tries to remember how much energy he has stored up. Just enough for the trip there and back, if he needed more he'd just get her to hit him with a construct or two. "Okay, I'll need a few teleports in a row to get there though, so you might want to close your eyes in case it's too disorienting." Middle of the night here meant he needed to get a few timezones away, and hopefully a different season too.

Making sure he has a firm grip on her hands, Harry does the first teleport and they're gone in a flash. Ever since he'd gotten more control over his teleporting he'd decided to pick one area or country to explore per month. And he had figured since it was winter he'd pick a place that was currently experiencing summer, which meant his first world tour would be starting in New Zealand and Australia. It takes him a few teleports to even get there, these distances were harder and took more energy after all, and she'll notice there's another few as he looks around for a nice spot.

Finally the teleporting stops and he lets go of her hands to indicate they're here. "Okay, you can open your eyes now." They're in a wide open valley with a few mountains not too far in the distance and he's a little proud of himself since not only was there still sun, it was getting into the evening hours though here, the weather was a lot nicer than back in Chicago.

	It also means her need to wear as few layers as she can get away with to bed won't leave her freezing here. She flashes him a big grin as she allows herself to stretch her arms high above her head.
