Happy Birthday Foxy
In the ungodly hours of the morning, when even most vigilantes would be calling it a night, a silent alarm goes off. Except for once instead of any tell-tale signs of robbery there's a trail of blood and discarded clothing. First the cape. Then gloves. Crushed utility belt. And finally the tunic that gives it all away.

He's a crumpled figure on the floor, surrounded by bits of a first aid kit that he's managed to knock off the shelf before collapsing, and propped up against the wall in what is both the most convenient and inconvenient position. It's the only way he can see the stab wound, one of many, just below his ribs in order to stitch it. But it's also the position he's bleeding out the fastest in.

The blood loss, blurry vision and shaky hands are making this worse, and he's completely oblivious to his surroundings at the moment.

Not that it mattered much at this point.

	"I need to get back. They're probably worried." Now that he thinks about it...he has no idea how long he's been out. Carefully standing up, but using the bed as support, he finds he's still shaky on his legs and can't put much weight on his left. "Well, no word all night and I didn't come back so..." He really is just guessing at how long he's been here.

"I'm well enough to-argh!" He put too much weight on that left leg and lost his balance. But between that and being lightheaded? Not a good combination. On reflex he reaches out to catch himself but in the process stretches too far and pulls stitches in the wound in his abdomen and crumples in a ball to the floor.

"Son of a.... Do you want to give me a heart attack?"

She is at his side pretty quickly. She wants to be sure he hasn't seriously hurt himself. The stitches don't look very happy when she checks them. That makes her want to glare at him.

"You can't go right now. Your leg is pretty messed up. There's no way you can put any weight on it," she says gently. "You need a day or two, Robin. Even then I still think you shouldn't try going."

"Still, I didn't come back last night. That's usually a red flag in our business," he points out. As for the connection, well he's avoided mentioning Sarah at all, not even in the patrol logs. He'd like to keep it that way.

He's also not sure if the GPS in his utility belt has been damaged too or it could still be traced.

"You...got me a blood transfusion? How?" From the look on his face, he clearly hadn't expected that.

"Cold hard cash and a contact of mine. I went with O positive to be safe as I didn't want to violate your privacy by blood typing you," she said in a matter of fact tone.

She wants him to be able to trust her a little that means respecting his privacy.

"I don't think you would have had the strength to try getting out of bed if I hadn't. You.... lost a lot of blood."

"...Thanks." He looks uncharacteristically embarrassed at how far she'd gone for him, he hadn't expected it at all. But above all he appreciates that she's respected his privacy. His mask hasn't been tempered with and she hadn't blood-typed him (although this had also given her ample opportunity for a DNA sample, but he hopes that isn't the case).

"That much?" He has to ask. Surely it hadn't been that bad...

	Now that he's a less delirious state than he had been the previous night, he can see how much this has affected her. "...Sorry." He figures that she deserves an apology. 	There's some muttered swearing as he groans and puts his head against his knees while still sitting on the floor. He'd planned to drop by and wish her a happy birthday and tell her he had something planned for tomorrow but....he'd run into a gang fight and one thing had led to another and well...in all the chaos it had slipped his mind. 	And now she carefully sinks beside him to stroke his back gently. He sounds.... upset to her. "It's okay. I'm glad you're safe right now. That's what matters. And if you really need to go.... 	He is upset, more at his own failures than anything else though. "No it's..." He shuts his eyes tight, this time mostly out of frustration and not pain. How could he explain this? Still looking amused despite that. He's finally on his feet, but putting all his weight onto his right leg and leaning against the chair.

"Yeah, happens when a guy sticks a knife in it," he shrugs while looking down at the bandages. This wasn't the first time he'd been badly injured or almost died, it was hard to get fazed by it. He was more annoyed that he'd let it happen at all.

	He should be lucky that in her anger she still only thumps her fist weakly against a part of him that's not injured. "That isn't funny," she snaps. "You almost died." He blinks at her as she leaves. Funny? He was just pointing out the obvious, it wasn't like he hadn't been stabbed before. Granted, not that many times at once or so badly but...

Realizing he should follow her, he hops and hobbles his way slowly out of the room after her. He's still feeling awfully lightheaded and this was all a little too much. Where was his uniform anyway?
