You're Invited...
A few days later (after Heather had returned from Opal with Jess and Harry), mail arrived at the New Guardians headquarters (or their PO box, anyway). They'd left a couple ways to get a hold of them after the fire rescue, though none that would disrupt their privacy, at least, not yet.

It was an invitation to appear at a charity ball that was being hosted to raise money for the victims of the fire.

This got a team meeting. "So...." Heather asked. "Do we go?"

"The invitations don't specify, and they're addressed to me 'And Co.' So I think we should just go as guests. You don't have to give your real names if you don't care to, but nice clothes would be better. But Heather, if you want to think up something more practical and artsy for actual emergency intervention, then feel free; you've clearly got the creative thing going."

	"Were invited somewhere. Charity place." This is said in Arabic, but it has the same halting, incomplete way of speaking that Andy speaks in normally, and even then it sounds off, as if the robot were running the translation through an online translator. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The orange flickered hot in her eyes. Cindy spoke half-baked Arabic to Saishu. Saishu was Cindy's. Cindy could take care of her just fine. Especially since Andy was leaning more and more toward being a girl...

"Hey, you don't need to--" Cindy gritted her teeth and shook it off. "Sorry," she said, right through her teeth. "Had a little moment. Appreciate what you're trying for there, Andy."

	Perhaps Saishu has some idea why Cindy is using that tone. Maybe its just she's so used to getting a translation. She understands Andy's words, and even if its half-baked, its kind of nice to hear something from closer to home - but she still turns to Cindy. "Charity event?" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Still looking at his feet, Harry wonders if anyone's going to mention that not giving your real name is useless if they see your face. Why did they have to do this he wonders. The Ophie flare up does have him freeze up for a moment though. He desperately hopes there will be no more arguing, so when Cindy brings it in check he relaxes again. But only slightly. Andy sees the flare up. Andy hears the apology and the supportive response from Cindy after that. But the initial moment was enough to give the machine a feeling of terror. Deep seated terror that had only been subtle nuance before became strong impulses.

There is a slight shift in the color of Andys eyes towards yellow, a slight change in the angles of Andys face towards the masculine and the dress that had been created shifted back to a clingy bodysuit. One that showed nothing.

See what happens, child? you claim the one as your "Other" and she snaps at you...

	There was a very distinct sense of people not getting along in the air. Harry tenses up even more, he hates this. Which makes him appreciate Lenny's ability to calm everyone even more. Looking Andy's way, he gives Andy the best reassuring smile he can muster. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Saishu mostly just looks lost. Its gone from people slowly explaining things and something about charity to people getting all worked up and all offering reassurance for... something, all at once.

Saishu just gets back out of the way a little in hopes things will settle, since the confusion and lack of comprehension would be getting on her nerves, were it not for the added aura of calm.

	Harry smiles his thanks at Jess. She managed to pull him out of his own little world that he'd been plunging into to avoid this situation. But that didn't get him out of attending this thing. "Andy's right. We're...we're a team. We should all go," he admits nervously. He didn't want them to change plans or worry about him. He could put up with this, and he certainly didn't want anyone to have to stay behind because of him. No, he'd go. And probably end up trying to blend in and not be noticed but that was his problem not theirs. There was never any point worrying people about his problems.

"Boss, could I...wear goggles or sunglasses or something?" He didn't think a mask would be appropriate. "I mean just...just to..." At that point he loses steam and just hopes his suggestion would be okay.
