Cait couldn't put off any longer. It was time to grab the shark by the tail and tell her parents of her engagement to Ty. She had thought long and hard about how to do it and the best way seemed to be that she tell her mother first and then tell Arthur.

She fully expected Arthur to go ballistic and be banished from Atlantis again. Of course that was if Arthur didn't lock her up and keep her under lock and key. No matter how it went it wouldn't end well. For a few moments she had thought about taking Pippi with her, but that would feel too much like cheating and Cait knew she would feel guilty afterward for manipulating Arthur.

Taking Ty along with her was totally out of the question. On a good day Ty had tenuous control over his powers. Around Arthur that control was almost non-existent. Ty already brought Atlantis to the surface and almost destroyed it in the process. This time she was sure Atlantis wouldn't survive.

Cait entered Atlantis with the usual fanfare (she hated it) and went to find her mother. Divide and conquer. Or at least divide and have an ally to keep Arthur from killing her.

"I know we both like to deny it, but Mom is right when she says we're a lot alike."

It was a prickly topic. Cait liked to think she wasn't as obstinate, stubborn or temperamental as her father, but when it came down to it she was. Things may have be easier between her father and her if Cait had been more like Mera.

He smirks. "Yes. Both blonds." he agrees. Since, as far as he's concerned, he's only stubborn, obstinate and temperamental for a good cause - wheras Cait is entirely unreasonable. But she's young.

"Oh, far more than hair color, I assure you both," Mera said lightly. A nudge here, a thinly veiled threat there, and family harmony was achieved.

"Since I have no other bombs to drop, I will take my leave with your Majesty's permission and leave the two of you to do things things I don't want to know about."

Cait gave her mother a hug. "Thank you," she whispered in Mera's ear.

He glances at his wife, one eyebrow raised. This conversation has already pushed him to pretty near the detonation point. Being teased about short tempers and irrationality is not the best of ideas just now - especially since, of course, he's entirely rational and in the right here - but humoring his tempestuous daughter.

"Of course, Caitria."

Cait bowed deeply to both of them and then left the suite, shutting the doors behind her.
