Brave and the Bold: Sliver and Robin
Hub City, New York, and now Star City. Robin's out-of-Gotham tour continues. And he was making a considerable dent in the illegal arms market. While he'd dropped by Star City last month to deal with some of the arms trafficking, he was coming back now to wrap up some loose ends and check up on things. Luckily things were looking good and the detective portion of this night went smoothly. Robin swings through the streets looking to have a good end to this night.

Now just to wrap up some small fry. Nothing like a good old punch up.

A few try running into a alley to escape only for a distinct shadow of a certain style of scalloped cape to descend from above and block out both what little light there was and any chance of escape the thugs have.

Yep, he's grinning. Sometimes you just had to relish in the terror a little.

Sliver, personally, believes that if one is going to use a cape in this line of work, it should be long enough to do Zorro tricks with. But to each his own. He tries to get a better look at what's going on in the alleyway, though. Wouldn't do to accidentally attack a non-aggressor out of confusion.

Long capes are the way to go. Which is why his has been essentially a Batman-style cape for years. Great for the theatrics.

A thug goes flying out of the alley, and one of his friends is thrown out of it shortly after looking quite roughed up. Which leaves a rather ominous looking shadow looming from the entrance to the alley.

Good thing they can't see his grin. That would ruin the whole effect here.

Sliver takes in the theatrics. Ah, longer than he thought, yes, it really works for him. ... and then is wincing.

"What is WITH you Gotham people?" Same words, even. That town has issues.

A few batarangs fly out to try and disarm some of the thugs that were actually stupid enough to try and pull something out. Why was the other guy wincing? Nothing in his eyes, no bright light, at least nothing he'd noticed. And...given the whole World's Greatest Detective training, it seemed there was nothing to explain the wince.

"Lots of things but what's the issue in particular tonight?" He can talk and fight, multitasking was always good.

"Sorry. No offense meant. Metagene problem," he mutters, and the stick will slam into one of the shoulders of the disarmed thugs still stupid enough to try something.

Metagene? Huh, he hadn't heard of someone like this guy with one around. "Anything useful?" Always good to know what you were working with.

"Not really. It's just an embarassment. This--" He knocks another one down "Is all strictly from practice. No meta help there." He deals with a few more things before carefully grabbing a handful of the dropped weapons for the bag he's put on the curb. "I don't like even telling people I have it, but when it overreacts to people, then it's only fair to say."

"Psychic or mental sort of thing then I guess?" He casually takes out another by extending his bo staff with a snap of his wrist and knocking the guy in the back of the head. "And is that...an antique...stick?" Odd choice of weapon.

"I don't even know what you would call it -- I can't read mines or anything -- but seems like people from Gotham are too intense for it lately."

Sliver grins as he pulls out the blade and brandishes it and the exterior stick in one hand apiece, though guys like these just get the flat of the blade. "Yep. Family heirloom. Not that my folks know I'm using it like this, but what they don't know won't hurt them. I go by Sliver, for don't-tell-my-folks purposes. You're ... Robin, obviously."

"We're an intense lot, not the best thing for powers with feedback," he shrugs but has already started working on making sure his mental blocks were up to snuff. Paranoia ran in the family.

"Nice," he chuckles as the bo staff gets driven into the gut of another thug while Thomas adds this information to his mental file on the new guy. "Pleasure to meet you and all Sliver. And yes...Robin. Wonder what tipped you off," comes the smirk. "Afraid I've only run into Arrow sorts in these parts and not a guy like you. Been doing this long?" Not that he'd know actually given he'd only been here a year. But you could still be conversational while bashing heads in.

"The immutable sense of the theatrical," GK readily replies, smiling back. Then he answers the other question. "Nearly two years, but I'm very local. Hardly ever leave the Triangle. Oh, but quick tip, don't mention the Arrows in this neighborhood. My partner has some ... Perfectly Understandable Emotional Concerns."

Robin smirks over, "Theatricality and deception are powerful agents." He uses the shoulders of one thug as a vault to flip over the group and go straight into a flying kick at another's face. Impractical? Perhaps. But it was fun. "Noted. And...I understand they can rub people the wrong way in many occasions." Not that the bat family couldn't of course.

"Not really. Mostly small fry in an arms trafficking sort of deal that was big in Gotham. I've been going around taking out the out-of-town parts of it and just dropped here to tie up some loose ends. Anything been going on in the Triangle recently?" He strolls back to where GK is, avoiding stepping on too many thugs on his way over.

"Ahh. Well, I know something was up in the last few months, but I'm not good at that wide-scale stuff. Say, you don't know anything about the creepy sharpshooter we had this summer, while you're at it?"

"What level of creepy are we talking about?" Because, yes, there were levels and they were always relevant.

As he walks over, Robin finally gets a good look at his new ally. The guy had seemed familiar before but with all the head bashing and lack of good lighting, it'd been hard to get a good look at him. It was the Walker kid huh? Interesting. He should really look into better ID concealing.

On the surface the only reaction to this new information is that Robin tilts his head curiously as he asks his first question. Easily put down to curiousity and not any ID knowing. But he has to suggest, "You should really look into a mask. Trust me, they're not bad."

"She's just very ... basic about this stuff." Once all the bad guys are unconscious, GK goes about filling the sack with all of their weapons, taking the magazines or whatever out of the guns first. "Doesn't even have a nom d'affairs, and she's been at it way longer than I. Ooh, googles are a thought. Maybe steampunk the outfit a bit."

[info]cantkeepmeout

"Different things work for different people," he shrugs. "Just because very basic is how she does it doesn't mean you have to do it that way. Seriously, goggles are ridiculously useful. If you can work in some night vision and such later on, all the better."

"Honestly, the stuff on the market could be a lot better. I think it goes for a few hundred from most retailers and online stores," he shrugs. "But I find it's best to do your own adjustments or make from components if you can." Not that this guy would have a problem on the money front of course.

"Heh. Good point." GK backtracked his thoughts in a 'where were we?' way. "Anyway, the sharpshooter this summer. It was 'trying to recruit for who-knows-what, then bodies on the roof' kind of creepy. Scummy assassin bodies, but it's still creepy."

He smiled patiently as GK backtracked, he hadn't pushed before, it was easier to wait and let people tell you things. They often said more that way anyway. But at hearing what it was, the smile disappears and he's all business. "Ah, that sort of creepy. Do you know who's assassins these were?"

"Enforcers for one of the local big three syndicates, probably. It was during an observation. Guy most likely saved our lives, but that doesn't stop its being creepy. Obviously, I'm not expecting you to be impressed, since it's not 'escaped lunatic takes over a diner and spends all night killing handful of people' creepy, but still."

"No no, it has nothing to do with impressing me. It's just that when someone says 'creepy', Gotham standards kick in and worst case scenarios are assumed. Shooters and assassins though are a whole different set of problems though, not ones to be taken lightly either. Has he popped up since then? Or any other sniper-type killings? He might be freelance."
