For comfort's sake, and because Barbie could always use keeping her practice up, while he was getting plenty of practice already, they spoke Mandarin.  She held up both closed fists as she sat across from him.  "Pick one."

And now that she's got it set up like she likes, Barbie starts looking for pawns to take with her bishop. And finds one.

"Makes sense. I guess maybe I just got tired of feeling like a disappointment."

He's quiet for a moment, barely noticing the move. He grabs his glass of water and takes a long swig.
