A surprise visit!
"Knock, knock! Anyone home in here?" Alex Rice-Matthews calls as he steps into the HQ of the Justice Society of America. Now, it's not strange that he does so. The kid spent a lot of time growing up there, is the grandchild of a founder, and the son of a former member. He's been there a lot.

What is different is the red and green uniform he's got on complete with his grandfather's logo on his chest. And the bright green ring on his finger. He's been doing his best to keep the fact that Grandpa Alan gave him his ring secret, wanting to surprise everyone. And now he's ready to reveal it, confident he's been training hard enough.

"Don't tell me everyone rushed out without me," he laughs and he closes the door behind him and looks around.

	With a smirk and another flash from the ring, Alex adds a replica of Mr. Garrick's hat to Steve's head. It's green like the rest but otherwise looks the part. "Well once they see me with the ring there won't be too many questions. Except maybe asking why I was putting cloths on ya instead of off," he jokes, in a pretty good mood. He tips the hat, quite pleased with it, obviously, and not missing a beat. "I should have known, with the snappy fashion sense. Afraid your cousin is more my type, but I'll still buy the pizza and soda if you can give me some dirt on your cousin, or maybe Wendi? Well, when I find a source of income, anyway. Wonder if Mom and Dad will agree they owe me a lot of back allowance?"

	Alex shrugs and chuckles. "I'll see what I can get ya. Just gotta make sure Mickey hasn't hooked herself up with anyone since I last talked to her," he says. "With great power comes great cockblocking? Geez, I hope not." he snorts, glad dad and mom aren't about to hear that.
"Oh, its pretty simple... and yet not. I'm the kid Jay and Joan Garrick adopted who died of pneumonia ages ago. Except due to some unknown, maybe exposure to Dad, I entered the speed force. All of my memories are actually 'could have beens' and 'maybes' of what would have happened if I'd lived. The speed force touches on all times, after all. Except the only people who weren't shadowy images and phantoms in the memories are people who touch the speed force. And for every event, I have anywhere from three to five dozen memories of what could have happened to sort through to see what I do or don't know. Like I said, its weird. I've been through school a dozen times, basically, but if someone isn't a Flash or Quick, I probably don't know them."

Alex laughs again. "Sadly, yeah," he remarks. "You'd be amazed how often an emergency or something weird pops up just as you're gaining ground," he muses with a shake of his head.

The young man goes quiet to listen and nods. He lets out a thoughtful noise and then a shrug. "Flash stuff always is complicated but hey, what in our circles isn't," he laughs. "Don't worry about it all. Weird stuff like that happens all the time."

Alex gives Steven a strange look but eventually nods. "Yeah, I get ya. Like if I make food with my ring, it's just gonna taste like green energy," he chuckles. "Let's see..." he trails off, peering into the fridge. "Ah ha!" he declares, discovering several wrapped slices of pizza that are quickly carried to the microwave by floating green plates. "Let's start ya with pizza then."

"Pizza sounds good. I remember going out for pizza...and it smells awfully good, anyhow. But yeah... basically, anything that was really important to a Flash or a Quick... I might have a more firm recollection of. School for Jay and Barry... the scientists... knowing what a Green Lantern is comes up... bits and pieces of their knowledge - that I know. But more abstract things get more fuzzy. I may learn quick, but I have a lot to learn."

He snags a pair of sodas from the fridge and tosses one to Steve. "Sounds like it alright," he agrees, sending three slices of pizza Steve's way once the microwave beeps. He catches the soda easily, barely seeming to look at it. "Yeah... its... well, from what I can think of, sciences wise... think about when you were, say, four. Do you remember what your /very/ favorite toy was? Favorite show? Things you absolutely hated? Favorite book to have read to you, or movie? In some case, I'm guessing yes. But everything else? You probably don't remember much else... unless its part of a power somewhere. My whole life is like that, but its what's important to other people. Its like, I sort of recall going to school multiple times over, but the people and exact details get fuzzy... but Bart and his video games? Well, I've never played one, but right now, I could tell you the codes and sequences for almost every fast action game ever. So a lot of things are odd bits and pieces that would make no sense to anyone else."
he offers, trying to explain his memory, or his recollection of times and memories.
He gets the pizza, and has his first taste of something that doesn't taste like chewing on electricity, and immediately all signs of line of thought are gone in total experience bliss.

"Oh god, that's amazing."

Alex listens carefully, popping open his soda and leaning back on the counter. "Man...that really sounds like a hassle, man," he says, shaking his head. "We have definitely gotta get you out there and experiencing stuff," he says with a grin. "Food, fun, sun...hey, you remember how to swim? I hope Mickey and her crew get ya a bathing suit. I'll teach you how to surf," he declares.

He blinks at Steven's reaction to the pizza and chuckles. "And just think, it's only reheated leftovers. Just wait till you try the fresh stuff."

	"Ok, with that comment, we have definitely got to grab fresh pizza, yes." he decides, trying the soda next, with much the same reaction. 	Alex shakes his head and laughs. Apparently this is all he's needed to decide Steven's a great guy. "Sure. I'll talk the rest of them into ordering it in for dinner tonight.
