Can't Go Back by Primal Scream
Keith had heard that marissa was in town, and he was glad to hear that.  He hadn't seen her in awhile, although they did keep up with each other with texts and phone calls.  Speaking of, Keith dialed her number and waited for her to pick up the phone.  He wanted to see her later.

"Hehehe! These guys are awesome. Who doesn't like Monty Are I?" The pair could see the band rolling up to the stage at that moment. He waved to them with his free hand. They nodded back at him and waved to Marissa. Keith had plans that Marissa couldn't know about just yet. If she got to talk to them, she would totally ruin her own surprise.

"Looks like they're here. Better leave them to their set-up for now."

"Huh? No I totally want to talk to them...." Of course he stopped her and she pouted. "But...it's...ugh. Fine. Fine. But later. I'm talking to them. I take it since this is your shindig we get good seats, huh?"

Not getting to harass them now could be made better with good seats.

He chuckled. "You can totally talk to them later." He looked around at the area in front of the stage and pulled up a table and a chair closer to the stage. "We have good seats now." Smile.

Keith took a bow. "As you wish, Madame." He started laughing as he wandered off to grab her a cold Coca Cola. Not a can, though. It was a bottle. He brought a water for himself, as if he hadn't gotten enough water already. But he had to keep the vocals good. "You drink, m'lady."

"Thanks." She gave him a small kiss on his cheek. "You're really excited about tonight, aren't you? I mean, you usually are pretty up but today you just seem...really happy."

He laughed at that. Keith was happy to be a dork for her. "Glad you think so."

He looked at the stage and watched the band get ready for their sound check. Things were coming together nicely.

"Thanks," he replied and smiled. The band was almost ready, and they signaled for Keith. "This won't be long." He got up and onto the stage and started discussing things with the band. People had been officially allowed to come by and stand up or sit down and get drinks and all that mess.

"Okay." She smiled at him and settled back in her seat but even as she was trying to relax she found herself collecting details on everything around her. She noticed the people and where they congregated, what shoes drink vendor wore, how one guy near the far left of the stage favored his left leg when he walked. She frowned a moment. This was what Tim, Terry, and even Dad had meant when they all said the job consumes you.

She took a drink and swallowed hard. Maybe once she avenged her mother, she could quit.

The band was ready. And surprisingly, Keith wasn't getting off stage. Instead, he took the microphone and the lead singer let him steal the show with the first song. "Here's the second surprise, Marissa."

The music started, and then Keith started to sing Kaleidoscope. And he was actually Really Good.

He was going to announce the band? That was the second surprise? Marissa was confused for a moment, but just a moment. The music started, Keith started singing and...

...her jaw dropped.


She would deal with the fact that he was putting on a display that would attract press attention and that he had mentioned her name later. For the moment, she was getting serenaded in an epic way.

And it was awesome.
