Playing with shadows (open)
Mickey loved rainy days. More than just rainy days, she loved spring showers, were the rain wasn't too cold, or pouring down in buckets.

Also, rain meant lots of shadows for her to play with.

The second she'd gotten to the Brownstone after school, Mickey had tossed on her navy blue raincoat and navy blue rain-boots with the rubber duckies holding umbrellas and had run straight outside to the backyard area...and began to have some fun.

Using the shadows that she could find, Mickey started to mold them into constructs. Little black buckets to catch the falling raindrops. A small little family of shadow ducklings to play in the puddles.

Mickey smiled to herself. Her other teammates might find her a bit crazy, that she could spend all this time out in the pouring rain, but Mickey couldn't think of a better way to pass the time.

Scott is flying through the rain, wandering around, when he sees the JSA Brownstone. Scooter was complaining of the rain the whole time.

"Sir... I'm going to get smudged up..."
"Scooter! Listen, I will polish you when we get back to the Watch Shop, okay?"
"That's all I ask, sir."

Scott sees Mickey playing with the shadows and grins. "That's the Brownstone. Maybe I should introduce myself? I mean, can't get a much bigger team than the JSA to know your name, right?"
"I suppose so, sir." Scott nods at the robot and swoops down for a landing.

"Hey there! Gold Sentinel, Hero of the 26th Century. And who might you be, miss?"

	Mickey whipped around, distracted from making her shadow constructs. She raised an eyebrow. "Mickey Rayner," she said, "Onyx. And I've...never heard of any Gold Sentinel. Are you supposed to be like, some new version of Booster Gold or something?" (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"Well, I do hope to honor his legacy in my own way. And the little robot hiding underneath your umbrella is Scooter." Scott grinned. "So, I figured I'd introduce myself to you here in the Society, pop in and say hi. I've already met one of your own. Hourgirl is JSA, right?" Scott's mind was going a mile a minute. He knew where he might be able to see Wendi again now, and beyond that he was talking to his own ancestor!

But... If she had shadow powers, why did his brother get the Power Pulse type of power instead of the shadow shape kind?

Oh well, better questions for later.

Scooter piped in. "Pleasure to meet you, Miss. If I might say, you look fantastic in your raincoat today."

Did my robot just hit on my great-great-and so on-grandmother?

	Rather suddenly, a glowing green canopy popped into existence above Mickey and Scott. Dressed in his uniform but without the mask, Alex Rice-Matthews walks outside. "Hey, Mickey," he greets. "Who's this?" he asks, looking Scott over. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"I always go out the rain," she explained, "Lots of shadows to play with you see. I can take them and manipulate them into constructs, like the umbrella currently over your head. Kind of like what my mom can do, but my powers come from shadows, like my Uncle Todd's, rather than from the Starheart."

She grinned when she saw the canopy. "Alex!" she ran to hug her cousin. "Alex this is Gold Sentinel, and his robot, Scooter. He's from the future, apparently. Kind of like Booster Gold."

Scott sticks out his hand to the new Starheart wielder. "Nice to meet you, Alex! I was swinging by hoping to meet a few JSAers, and letting you know that since we're in the same town, if you guys ever need an extra pair of blasters, Scooter and I are there to help. Right Scooter?"

"Indeed, sir! We're a team, and we'll be more than happy to help your team should the need arise!" Scott grins and thinks to himself.

Man, I should have installed wipers on these glasses. I can't see a thing!

Alex returns the hug, happy to see his cousin. "Hey, Mickey," he greets. He looks Scott over again and grins. "He's pretty cute," he remarks idly. He walks back over with Mickey and shakes the offered hand. "Nice to meet ya. I'm otherwise known as the Green Lantern," he says.

The ring-slinger glances at the robot and chuckles. "That's nice of you guys. Thanks. If you two ever need a hand, I'm sure the Justice Society will be happy to help ya out."

	"The Justice Society's pretty well-connected," Mickey said, "Chances are that we know someone in another team that was either on or affiliated with the JSA at some point. Just in case you're ever in a bind and we aren't around." (Reply to this)(Parent)
