Learning Experiences. (Avia)
As Cindy got situated at school, she was a little more...absent-minded than usual. Absent in a particular direction.

But there were plenty of things that needed doing or practicing. And not just academics.

She dialed up a certain residence in Connecticut.

"Avia?" She asked as soon as the phone was answered. "What's the easiest thing for you to get out of? That's not a performing secret, of course."

"Can do," she replied, grateful that for this, at least, they could use Mother Box to help patch up any injuries.

"So what're you going to want to do is grab your thumb with your other hand--I'm gonna recommend using your dominant hand to do the grabbin'--and give it a good yank, like this."

Avia demonstrated on her own hand, wincing only slightly. "Then you just pull your hand through the cuff."

She winced again as the popped it back into place.

Cindy watches very, very carefully. She takes her right thumb in her left hand, and sets her jaw as hard as she can.

Her first attempt to copy the motion Avia made doesn't work. She just can't seem to do it. The second try, she succeeds, doubling over with a sharp keening sound, even with her mouth shut tight.

She's fighting tears as she slips her hand out of the cuff, but really trying to keep it together.

	Avia carefully and expertly popped Cindy's thumb back in. After she did so, she placed her Mother Box next to Cindy's hand, sending out pulses of good feelings and healing waves. Avia nodded and pulled out a different set of cuffs, this one made from a clear material that let people see the inner-workings. Perfect for practice.

She latched them without putting them around Cindy's wrists, and pulled out one of her lockpicks.

"Okay, gonna show you this forward first, and we can work on that, before we try backwards."

Carefully and slowly, explaining what she was doing, she picked the lock. And then she did it again.

She reset the cuffs and handed the pick to Cindy. "Give it a shot."

	Cindy watched intently through both times. And then those little fingers took up the pick and carefully tried to duplicate it. It didn't come too quickly; the tumblers started to get away from her, but she managed to recover some control. Finally, after a while's effort, everything clicked. She smiled.
