The beginning of their first semester at college had been very busy so far, and wasn't letting up any time soon. Ruth cracked open her textbooks on Buddhism and opened up her word processor. Maybe her homework could help her get her mind more on a proper track; she'd been feeling stressed lately.

Well, it was a weird summer; she's got that in her defense.

After a while, she first calls her family because she'd forgotten to make the usual check-in, then calls Jay. "I have typed the word Mahayana so many times, I'm becoming very neurotic about whether I'm spelling it right. Have you got some time?" He wasn't in the middle of anything in his schedule she was aware of, but he might be getting something done himself.

He picks up after a few rings. "For you? All the time in the world, babe." he replies. He's just in the midst of a workout - pretty much one of the two activities eating his time. Learning the playbook, following the practice schedule plus all the additional work the coaches are giving him, and hitting the weight room has been fighting with borrowing Ruth for all the tutoring her can get to try and keep his grades up. With those two things, he hasn't had a lot of time for the Titans, or, other than studying, for Ruth. Thankfully, she's seemed sympathetic, as long as he's clearly working hard to maintain his scholarship and remain eligible.
"I'll be up in ten minutes."

	Its Jay, and thus 'be there in ten' actually takes twelve minutes, despite sprinting the whole way from the training room, leaving him catching his breath a few moments more - but at least its a sign he was trying to not keep her waiting. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	What someone doesn't know not hurting them isn't normally Ruth's favorite phrase, but she's willing to make a few allowances now and then, in reasonable circumstances. Her little efforts to steer clear of total neurosis. "Logic'll be a welcome change of pace." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
