Asgardian Gethsemene, Part 1.
When the Exiles materialize in their next location, they have a lot of new company in the middle of a rock-strewn, windy field. In the distance, there is a building with a slanted, thatched roof. It is the only building in the immediate vicinity, though those with sharp eyes may see various small structures even further in the distance.

Liv kept quiet and stayed alert. She didn't have anything to add and her mother always said that if one kept quiet and watched what was going on, one could learn a lot.

"Yes, we are familiar with the idea of different realities; different ways things could have gone. There are..." Storm looks at all three girls strangely, but especially Laura and Sarah, "...many things I could ask, but ...why were you sent? Asgard has been at peace for a generation, though at great cost."

Eitri grumbles. "Aye. About that peace."

This is Asgard, and, finally, a non-vampiric, non-villanous Storm. She's pretty sure they can follow some of the ideas.

"There's something wrong with the timestream. Its not just 'ways things could have gone' - now, some things are actively going differently than they originally went within times, or have something about to disrupt the local timestream. We get pulled into worlds with a chance to make sure those things don't happen. So if we're here, you're either in the way of the timewave, or something has already been changed - and we have a chance to put the world back on a path of stability."

This sinks in.

"If y'all wert supposed to stop what clearly wasn't supposed to happen, y'all art at least a year late," Eitri says softly.

To this, one of the Crimson Hawks decides to speak up. "King Eitri, thy father ist missed, but if his accident was born of malice, it may have little to do with the broader realm. Thy people have enough enemies of their own."

The dwarf's expression gets even darker. "...I thank thee, Sir, as having just fallen off the turnip truck, I did not know my people stand apart. I deal enough with 'The Dwarves are for the Dwarves' when I explain that I am attending such councils as this. And call it not an accident. Midgard-born my father was, but he wast a hard man to kill."

Sarah looks between them, and decides to take advantage of the floor given her, Rogers' heritage, and being a bearer of Mjolnir.

"Unfortunately, we have no control over when we come into a world. Its possible that some of the damage done isn't reversible, or certain events needed to happen. Believe me, I would have loved to have had a chance to stop one world from falling under vampiric dominion before 80 percent of humanity was killed and the rest reduced to scavenging for basic survival during the day and hiding at night.
Or before Doom, Magneto, the Wizard and others divided a world between themselves. Or before the demons successfully invaded.

But we don't get to step into good situations. Or pleasant worlds. We get to salvage something out of tragedy over and over again. I'm sorry for your losses. I truly am. I lost my home dimension. My parents, my friends, everything I knew and loved - gone. I've killed evil versions of some of those same people, and seen worlds that most of the residents might have even wondered if they were worth saving. I've lost teammates on this mission - many times, now.

We're more of outsiders than anyone here - and this Asgard is full of outsiders who've become essential to the realm continuing in its sacred mission. I will tell you now, something is coming. And it will not care if someone is a god, a dwarf, a wolf, a mutant or a dimensional traveler. And if we do not stand together with what we have, every person in this room will be just as dead as every other.

The only instruction we were given on coming in here was 'Hold' - and while I hope Odin, Thor and others return, I've done this long enough to know if they were going to be back in time for this, we wouldn't be here. So its up to us. All of us."

Liv kept quiet and listened. She also kept a close watch on people, reading their faces and body language.

In terms of faces, there's a lot of attentive and very resolute looks.

"Hold," sighs Eitri. " 'Tis what my Father oft said our people, should we wish to keep any professional pride, wouldst need do ...'pon the coming of Ragnarok. Hold. Make sure the walls held fast as long as they might, and the weapon supplies. These all already know what I think, that Musphelheim has made forays again and again..."

"Eitri," Doug says. "There's been peace since you were a kid. Hardly the point to expect the whole end-of-the-world battle."

"What better time to begin it? We art...rusty."

Sarah glances at Eitri. "If that word makes sense - then yes. That's probably exactly what it is. We would not be here if it weren't something big. We need to assume the worst, and start making preparations."

"Just let me know what I can do," Liv said. She had never dealt with the world ending, so this would be a first. Even it weren't her world.
