A Night a Finnegan’s(Open)

So far it had been a slow night the bar of the authentic Irish pub that Casey worked at. If any of his family and friends saw this place they would laugh their arses off but they were paying him extra to work here just because he had a real Irish accent.

He was hoping that the action would pick up here so he could get more tips and there was not much more cleaning and restocking he could do. Still the night was young and business could definitely still pick up.

She peers at him from under her hair. Then she reaches up to smooth it back and us very purposely watching his body language.

"What do you guys carry on tap?"

“Em, let’s see we have Guinness, Heineken, Harp Lager, Budweiser and Bud Lite on tap,” says Casey with a smile, “Do you need time to think or do you know what ya want?”

"I'll go with the Harp Larger." She's quick when she decides on something. And she really doesn't want to wait around either.

“Right, one Harp Lager coming right up,” says Casey who grabs a glass and fills it up with the order at the tap.

“Here ya go,” says Casey as he brings the filled glass to her.

She smiles at him and accepts the glass taking a moment to let the drink settle. She isn't really watching him anymore.

She takes a sip and pulls a thick note book that is filled with all of her appointments. She is checking to see what she has to do over the next few days.

Looks like she'll be busy.

Having given her her drink Casey saw that she looked busy and walked away. After she look finish with her notebook he might ask her about how busy she was but for now she looked like she didn’t want to be disturbed.

She's taking her time. She is about a quarter of the way into her drink when it goes into her purse.

She might be dressed pretty professionally but her purse is a bright vibrate thing that is huge for her it works though.

Seeing her put the notebook back into her oversized purse Casey walked over to her.

“Ya seem really busy got something important going on,” asked Casey as he got closer.

"Not really." She shakes her head. "I'm just busy at work. I'm a social worker so my day gets pretty packed."

She has no idea how she fits crime fighting into her day but it happens.

“That does sound like it would a very busy job,” says Casey interested to hear more, “helping people for a living typical is from what I know.”

That has her smile. "I work in the deaf community. I help them with finding schools and adjusting their kids to life in the public school system. It isn't always nice and sometimes they need someone who will pay attention to their needs."

“That sounds like a lot of hard work some people lack understanding,” says Casey understandingly.

“I’ve heard that that line of work can wear people out if they’re not careful,” he says.

"I get mad sometimes," she admits. Then she shakes her head. "I go through four cell phones a month on average."

“That sounds a bit expensive four phones a month,” says Casey a little stunned but curious about how she broke them so fast, “but at least you’re not bottling up your anger.”

"It's why I go for the cheap ones. It's still bad but not as bad as it could be," she says making a face. Which she really should go easier on her phones but with her mutation it was hard not to kill things.

"My father used to si... say that it was the husband's duty to make sure their wife gad plenty of shoes," Marica says carefully dancing around the subject of her father being deaf. While she isn't ashamed of her parents in any way. She just didn't like sharing so much.

“I suppose it’s a universal trait of fathers to have a saying for every occasion” says Casey assumedly. He da’s sayings always sounded better in Gaeilge but he had not met anyone in the city who spoke it.

She could see why it looked like there were a few more women in this bar. His voice was easy on the ears.

"Lots of fathers do and our mothers indulge them."

“That is also very true,” Casey says, “But relationships are always two way streets.” Casey thinks of the sacrifices that his parents have had to make over the years but he knows that his family has had it easy compared to others.

"A wise man," Marcia complements tipping her glass as if saluting him. She wonders if it comes with the job. Everyone tells their woes to whoever is pouring the drinks.

Not a problem for her really. She is used to feeling out other people's problems.

“Thanks,” said Casey for the compliment and the tip of a glass. “Right, let me know if you need anything else or if you have any questions,” Casey said as he started walking away.
