Keeping a Promise
Anya had made a promise to Halbjorn and she was finally going to keep it. Keeping her word was very important to her and she wasn't going to start breaking it now. She left a message on Steve's phone telling him she'd be back late tomorrow night and was going to California to go sky diving with Halbjorn and checking on the Defenders' computer systems.

Commercial flights sucked, but she did at least go in first class on a direct flight to LA. From there she grabbed a cab to take her out to the compound.

Without her Avengers access, she had to do this the complicated way.

She rang the buzzer at the gate.

"They have a long history, but I wouldn't call it great." Anya knew her father had a nasty habit of pissing people off including the ones he called friend.

"My father hast a long memory. And few he e'er calls friend. And the Avengers are oft spoken of like a second family. Hath no doubt thy father gains great regard for backing that august company, and always wilt."

"Well it is important to keep the Avengers around," she said. The company not in a Stark's hands didn't sit comfortably with her, but it was much better than her aunt running it all.

"Aye, they hath done a great deal of good in this world.." he agrees, not at all cognizant of any of the complexities. As usual.

"They have and they will continue to do it. If you ever want to do this again, just let me know. I don't get the chance to go often."

The cab pulled up and waited for them.

"Great. I'll definitely be out during spring break. The computers will most likely need some work by then."

Anya climbed into the cab.

"Hungry?" she asked after he climbed in.

"Aye, starving. Skydiving wouldst not seem to hold great exertion, but I hath worked up quite an appetite." Which is normal anyway. "We wilt look forward to thy next visit and see to it thou hast suitable accommodations then."

"What are you in the mood for?" No, that wasn't a loaded question for a change. It was an honest question.

She has a boyfriend, don't go with the obvious answer. "Meat and potatoes and bread." As usual.

"Steakhouse it is then." She gave an address to the driver. "There's a great Brazilian place not far from here." It was also all you can eat, which would suit him well.

"Thank you. I think I may wear it again for Valentine's Day." Steve's reaction to seeing her in the chain mail bikini had been very good to say the least.

"It's a Earth custom where people who care about each other do something together. Something romantic. Usually dinner and there's usually chocolate. It's usually for celebrating love. Basically if you care for someone, you do something to show your feelings."

"Aye, it make'st some sense, put that way. And so many of thy holidays seem to be about buying gifts. I am sure thy beau shalt find something that suits thee. I wilt need to consider this day. At least some customs here doth make some sense though."
