Pancake Tuesday (Open all)

About a week ago Casey had made a passing mention of how in Ireland on the day before Ash Wednesday they would celebrate Pancake Tuesday. Well apparently one of the higher up though it was neat and would be a good event to have at Finnegans.  The bar had done some mild advertising for it and they were hoping for some increase in business which is why Casey found himself working a longer shift than usual he barely had time to get to work after teaching his recitation but at least he was certain to make a lot of money today.

When he got there the place was already hopping and the waitresses looked busy. Apparently they were giving out free pancakes and were hoping to use that to make people buy more drinks. By the time Casey got behind the bar he could tell their plan was working with the amount of drinks he had to get. He was definitely making a lot of money today which made him very happy with how crazy it was going to be this afternoon.

Casey had noticed that Jack had come it and was sketching. It took an almost an hour before he could take a break to walk over and say hi. Which was what he was walking over through the bar to do right now.

Jack looked and grinned. "Casey, right?" he asked when the bartender was close enough to hear him. "Got quite a crowd here tonight."

“Hey, Jack right,” Casey says as he gets closer, “Yeah things are starting to get crazy around here, so figured I’d take this break to come by and says hi.”

Jack set down his pencil and held out a hand. "I couldn't resist a pancake feed. Don't think the Guinness will go with the syrup, but there's always Irish coffee."

“Very true Guinness isn’t much of a morning drink like Irish coffee tends to be,” says Casey as he finishes shaking Jack’s hand,”And the pancakes really are quite good.”

"I'm looking forward to it. This'll be as close to a homecooked meal as I've had in a while. Something to tell my mother when she asks if I've been eating well."

“I can’t really afford to eat out so I guess you could say most of my meals are homecooked, I’m actually starting to get good at it,” say Casey a bit proud of himself. “I think that’s a universal mom question, kinda like are you getting enough exercise.”

"That's one question she doesn't ask me. I can cook okay, but I forget to eat when I'm working at home. It's easier to grab a sandwich when I'm out." Between school and 'urban gymnastics', Jack looked pretty lean for his height. "I save the real cooking for when my girlfriend comes over and I'm trying to impress her. I think she'll like the bar. I'm going to bring her the next time she's in town."

“Every mom’s different I guess.” His mother rarely ever asked him to stay safe or anything like that on account of his luck which worked as a pretty good deterrent as long as he didn’t over do things pushing his luck. “There is something special about a good home cooked isn’t there. I’m sure your girlfriend would like it here,” Casey says, there always did seem to be a lot of woman in here whenever he was working.

"Oh yeah." Elektra didn't do homecooking or normal mothering, but Jack didn't miss a thing growing up. The lessons he learned from his retired assassin mother were invaluable. Everybody needed a back up plan if their first didn't work out.

Jack looked around at the decent turnout. If the atmosphere was something to judge by, Kalypso would really like it. It was a little female heavy, but as soon as the guys figured that out, it would probably balance. In fact, he noticed several tables of women checking out the bartender. Good marketing scheme for the owner.

"I think you're being paged at a few other tables," he said with a chuckle.
