Family Affairs, Cont.
Kristoff woke, very sore, head pounding. He was out of his armor, his hands restrained and locked behind his back. He hadn't ascertained what kind of lock yet, because he was busy noticing the other compartments. Separating everyone via transparent plastic was fairly...classic. He spotted Vincent first, apparently well; Kristoff was actually grateful just to see him even under the circumstances, with all he'd started to fear...
Cassandra, too, though she didn't seem to have regained consciousness, seemed essentially unharmed.
There wasn't a fourth compartment. Instead, outside any of the plastic confines, standing next to his own armor, was Andrea's body. And set beside Cassie was Andrea's head.

"Vincent," Kristoff asks, looking around -- eyes lingering on his armor, thinking of the new voice-recognition systems just revamped, wondering how much has been looked at -- "Has there been any explicit indication we're being observed?" He knows the absence guarantees nothing, but it's good to check since Vincent seems to have woken first.

"As near as I can tell, individual audio and visual recorders trained on each of us, save for Andrea." He looked down at her head, cringing at her pained speech. "I swear we'll have you rebuilt better than before as soon as possible, Andrea." His voice was maybe just a little strained, jaw clenched.

Vincent returned his attention to his brother. "The force-fields are obviously permeable to auditory frequencies and light along the visible spectrum, elsewise we wouldn't be haven't this conversation. I can't teleport out though. Too soon to tell if our captor is using magical counter-measures, or they've simply found a blanket energy frequency to prevent my escape by that means in particular."

"Thank-you Vincent, Kristoff," Andrea said, seemingly rather unconcerned with being in pieces.

"Thank-you [kssssch] Vincent, Kristoff," Andrea said, seemingly rather unconcerned with being in pieces.

"I was [ksssch--pop!] attacked by the... [kssssh] Thinker," she added. "But this... [hsssssch] seems beyond his capabilities."

That was worrying but Cassie had to block out the concern for her teammate at the moment. Right now she was focusing on getting out of her restraints. And she used to be so good at this when she was younger too.

Her eyes narrowed as she concentrated on building up a mental image of her restraint and what possible locking mechanism it could have.

"Well it's not Kang, Doom, or the Thinker."

"But quite capable of impersonating all of them in order to get us disoriented." Kristoff frowned. It added profound irritation to injury (and insult, for that matter); he hated imposters. Even when he was one.

"Yes," he says to Vincent. "If our words were merely being channeled through some broadcast-linked connection, it would sound differently. Kristoff made sure his eyes didn't linger on his armor for more than a second.

Still trying himself, Kristoff looks to see Cassie's restraints as well as he can. "The design looks familiar, but not very...off-world, most likely. Which in light of the circumstances has obvious implications."

Vincent was still surveying his surroundings lazily. "Can any of you ascertain the times of your defeat and capture? We should probably try to narrow down whether we're up against one assailant or multiple."

"It was," Andrea began, and the rattled off a time-stamp. "Plus or minus .5 seconds."

"I'm gonna take the fifth on that. With how fast we were taken down I think it's safe to say we're fighting more than one person or one person with a lot of resources available to them."

"A skrull, why am I not surprised. It'd have to take a creepy shapeshifter to find out our secrets. I'm tempted to ask how you did it." As in how he found out hers.

Plus she needed to keep him talking anyway. Unless he was going to do a long rambling monologue. That would be helpful.

Vincent kept his rage in check, trying to respond with a properly scathing retort. "You're clearly a credit to your maniacal species. Few would have the audacity to impersonate my father."

He shook his head, averting his gaze. "Honestly, the oh so inaccurately named 'Super' Skrull concept again? Did the 'great' K'lrt not fail enough for your empire?"

"I defeated K'lrt quite handily the last time he was on Earth," Andrea observed. "Against the four of us, you stand only a 3% chance of success."

"Advanced preparation is very important in any project, Miss Lang, and it takes information to get information. Additionally, you would be surprised how open some secrets really are."

He blinked slightly at Vincent. "The role seemed appropriate in dealing with the two of you. And proved sufficiently effective."

"I admire the courage of saying such a thing in your condition," the Skrull said as he looked down at Andrea with a smile. "But I have a far broader repertoire than Kl'rt."

"Broader? So I assume you're ugly, incompetent, and smell bad?" Vincent smirked.

If nothing else, he'd make his captivity as inconvenient for his captor as it was for himself.

"Vincent, this is not the time," Kristoff said.

"What is it you want? What sort of information?" He asked, staring blankly at the Skrull.

"Your plan will not succeeded, regardless of what it is," Andrea declared. "Your Empire is on the brink of collapsing in upon itself. Any success you gain would be but a Pyrrhic victory."

"You do not need to understand our current security issues, human, to provide the various access codes to your Negative Zone and Microverse systems and other equipment. Of course, we will also be obtaining a great deal of information directly from the other young lady without her having to answer questions at all."

And at that, Vincent is practically snarling, pressing his palms against the force field bubble entrapping him.

"You harm one circuit of her being any further and so help me I'll be conducting tests of your regenerative abilities that would make Deadpool cringe in revulsion!" He glares.

"Also? I've slept with your women. They swore loyalty to Earth afterwards and live among peacefully now."

The Skrull just looked at Vincent with vague contempt. "We can continue this conversation later. There is still some final preparations to deal with."

And he stepped out of the room.

"Vincent, there are a few things I feel obligated to discuss with you, but this is hardly the time for that, either," Kristoff said, but said it all with a distracted look. When the Skrull had been gone for exactly half a minute, Kristoff's eyes went again to his armor.
"Andrea. Very shortly we are going to need your help. And, in an indirect way, Mrs. Richards's," he says quietly and strangely calmly.
Then, suddenly, he starts speaking distinctly but very quickly. "Remote-Access-Initiate-Electronic-Overload-Signal-on-Following-Frequencies-" He rattled off his three best guesses based on all his reading of Dr. Richards's files on firsthand experience with Skrull restraint-and-suppression technology. "Confirmation-Code:-Mirela."

And with a few not-very-pleasant-to-the-ear sounds filling the air for a moment, the electronic components of the restraints disengage, neutralizing both the power suppressors and primary locking mechanisms.
