Late Night Delivery
Misha wagered on Anya's inability to sleep much and showed up at the condo late one night not long after the battle with the horsemen. He had the borrowed in the leather duffle over his shoulder and a box in his hands containing a takeout order from Big Nick's. He'd brought enough to feed James as well if the kid was up to a snack, and something for Mom and Tony if they were around. If they weren't, nothing would go to waste with teenagers in the house.

He used his key to get in and went directly to the kitchen. While he unpacked the box, he called Anya's cell phone.

	"Then you need it." He opened a couple of cupboards to find some plates. "Dad's advice was to nod a lot, always show up with food, and not to take offense at whatever comes out of your mouth." He unwrapped a burger and set it on a plate in front of her. Then to the fridge for the iced tea. "I figured that instead of shooting me, you'd make me carry your purse on a shopping trip or something. There would be pictures in the media, and the next thing I know, I'd be out of the closet and some guy would ask me to the prom. Can't let that happen. If I date one guy, I'd have to date them all and who has that kind of time?"

He was rambling and couldn't help it. Her question about the battle brought Nicholas Creed to the front of his brain after he'd mostly managed to shove it back the last few days. Dad's last piece of advice was not to say or do anything to worry her in her condition.

	Now that was a hard question to answer. "I haven't been out on a real date since the Christmas charity ball with Lyta." He returned the iced tea and got the beer. He loaded a plate for himself and sat down across from her. "It's been one thing after another. I really don't know how anybody in this life can manage a social life."
