Gathering the Pieces:
Melinda takes a deep breath. She's ready to call her parents and let them know that she's alive. But there's something she wants to do first. Something she has to figure out.

She moves to the office door labeled "Professor Charles Xavier" and gently knocks.

	"It's... not really up to them, sir," she says. "I'm old enough to decide to do it. But... I think they'll agree, particularly if you don't mind if I apply for your school as well.
