You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman
They had arrived at Earth and had orbited for awhile before Empress had selected her targets. It had taken some time. She didn't want just ANYONE. They had to be among the best. She WOULD win the gladiatorial games this time. NOTHING would stop her. Not even a small thing like gender.

Empress didn't care if it was cheating. The only thing that mattered was winning and she would win this time.

The teleporters were activated and the selected targets were beamed directly to the lab. There they underwent a little transformation and were given attitude readjustments and then put into a holding cell.

The men would wake up in the holding cell to find a few changes.

Yeah. He's not used to manuvering a shield that isn't his. He's also not used to having to work with other...assets while he's using it.

"Missed!" He smirked, as the arrow went flying by him.

Only to be knocked on his ass two seconds later.

Steve laughed at Charlie's misfortune. "I never miss, buddy b--girl."

Charlie got to his feet, smirking. "Funny. Neither do I." He tossed his shield at Steve at an angle so that it would knock him right off his feet when it made contact.

"Ooomph!" The shield hit Steve dead on, taking him completely by surprise. He managed to hold onto his bow, though.

He got back to his feet quickly. "Not bad," he said. "But I'm still better."

He fired a net arrow over Charlie's head.

"In your dreams, maybe!" The net arrow made contact, but in a matter of moments, Charlie had torn through it, tossing it aside.

Dammit. Who designed these arrows? He could tell they were following his usual design of differentiated feathers to tell the arrows apart, but it was not his usual quiver-load.

"In my dreams and in your nightmares," Steve taunted. He got moving, trying to flank Charlie, while firing a taser-arrow.

He managed to duck that one. Barely. Steve knew him well enough to where he'd know Charlie's movements pretty well....and Charlie knew Steve's pretty damn well too.

He grabbed his shield, before rushing at Steve, shield forward to push him back.

If ever there were two matched combatants, it was these two.

Steve went low as Charlie approached, still getting hit in the process (and ow! by the way), but swinging his bow at Charlie's legs.

The bow tripped him up, sending him down, but he sprung right back, swinging a leg at Steve's bow.

Whoever made the bow did a good job. It didn't break, but the force of Charlie's kick was enough to send it clattering from Steve's hand. Whoever had designed his equipment hadn't seemed to realize he was way more than just an archer. No sword, no staffs...

Dammit.

He dropped back into a fighting pose. "Bring it, Rogers."

He still had his shield, giving him the one-up over Steve. "Oh it is on like Donkey Kong, Barton," he said as he swung a punch at Steve's chin.

Pow!

The blow spun Steve's head around, causing him to teeter on his feet. Punch for punch, Charlie's second-generation super-soldier formula meant he was just plain stronger than him.

He stumbled, trying not to fall down.

While he was busy stumbling, Charlie threw another punch, this one aimed at his cheek.

The punch made contact, and Charlie let out a laugh. "Not the best you can do there, Bowhead." He threw a final punch at Steve's jaw.
