The night of all nights...
Valeria waited in the living room of area of the Fantastic Four's living area of the Baxter Building for James. It was the night of the senior prom for his high school, and she had butterflies in her stomach. Being home-schooled her entire life, Val had never been to a school dance, let alone a prom. She was both excited and nervous.

She was wearing the same dress that she wore for the wedding in Russia. She loved wearing it, and she didn't think that James would really mind that she didn't get a new one. It was only for one night anyway.

Val sat down on the sofa, making sure not to mess up her dress too much. She knew that they'd probably get their pictures taken two dozen times that night.

As one expects of heroes, the bridge is reached just in the nick of time.

Trouble's not over though. Almost as one, the peasant people in the village turn to look at the pair. There's some mumbling before one man in a straw hat points and yells at them in Spanish. Anyone that knows the language will hear the unpleasant "Intruders! Kill them!" before the farm tool wielding men and women start approaching menacingly.

A man with a pitchfork charges for James while a woman tosses an axe at Val.

	Pitchforks? Really? This was totally absurd. Beyond absurd. James tossed his shield to knock the axe out of the path of hitting Val. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The axe it knocked right out of the air but it doesn't deter any of the villagers. They gather on the edge of the force field and pound against it with knives, pitchforks, scythes, axes, and even lit torches.

There are a few buildings around them and the doors seem to be open. A house, a barn, and what seems to be a watch tower that would allow a view of the whole village. The exits of the village all seem blocked though with either heavy metal doors or large wooden gates.

The shield takes quite a few weapons from the hands of those holding them but also takes the whole hand off one. It doesn't seem to phase the man much though as he only stumbles back and then starts towards the forcefield again.

Even as the second forcefield goes up, there's two noises. The first is the his of fuses as a pair of the villagers start tossing lit sticks of dynamite at the heroes. The second is the ominous rumble of what sounds like a chainsaw coming from one of the barns.

The TNT clatters to the ground at the bottom of the shield. The other villagers seem oblivious even as the fuses run down. There's an explosion along with several pained cries. When the smoke clears...most of the villagers are laying dead. After a moment, most of them start to bubble and melt away into some sickeningly yellow liquid. Others are getting up and turning back towards the heroes...including the ones with the dynamite. And up by the church...a man with a burlap sack over his head is approaching slowly while holding a chainsaw over his head. And his sights seem set on James.

	The shield combo causes a rather messy sight but results in the chainsaw man melting away like the villagers. Left in his place...an oddly shaped key floating in the air in a small pillar of light. Examining the key shows that it's shaped just like the strange symbol on the church door... (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The church certainly doesn't look like a church inside. It looks like a sort of arena. Once the heroes step in, the door slams shut behind them and lights click on.

Rushing for James without so much as a hello is what appears to be a muscular martial artist. Almost like a character from a video game James plays. The man is fast, swinging a kick for James' midsection.

Meanwhile, the shadows near Val seem to come to life and something shudders out of them. Gray, humanoid, glowing red eyes and big teeth...there's a monster. It's arms stretch out quickly to ensnare Val and pull her away from the battle.

	The monster stumbles back, face smashed. When it stops moving, it's face just reforms and the beast lets out a shuddering breath before lunching at Val again, jaws aimed at her shoulder. James' opponent proves to be just as fast as him. The man has an arm up and blocks the kick much like James deflected his. It's followed quickly by a hard punch sent James' way. The monster ends up taking a bite out of the ground where Val was. Slowly, it seems to slither back to it's feet. Chewing the dirt, it heads for Val and stretches arms out to grab her again. Seems something wants her occupied.

Meanwhile the martial artist hits the ground after being knocked down. He's rolling back and to his feet quickly though. Once in a crouch, the man rears back and then tosses a bright purple fireball at James...just like in that video game.
