Happy Birthday!
Thankfully Sydney had swapped important information with Avery when they were synchronizing their calendars and it had given Syd the head's up that Avery's birthday was coming up. She knew Zoey would want to give Avery something for his birthday. Zoey had made him a card and Sydney took her shopping.

Just what did one give someone one didn't know too well for their birthday?

Syd racked her brain to find something, then she remembered Avery liked music. So she suggested a guitar to Zoey and they went shopping to find one for him. Syd didn't know if he still played, but it was the only thing she could really think of. Zoey liked the idea and of course now wanted to take guitar lessons too.

The man at the shop had been so helpful. All guitars looked the same to Syd, so she relied on the sales clerk to help her. They found a nice acoustic guitar and wrapping it had been a task, but in the end they managed it.

With card, gift and a cake made by Sarah in hand, Syd and Zoey went over to Avery's house.

	"You and I both. I can't even remember having that much energy at her age." Avery says. He pauses, considering the next thing he wants to say, but he's not sure if Sydney will still want to speak to him after he tells her. "Please understand that I didn't tell you this right away because I was...nervous about what you'd think. If you'd still want me to be around Zoey after you knew.

But I'm telling you now because she's getting older and if things start happening, we need to be able to comfort her." he says, taking a deep breath to collect his thoughts.

"Sydney, this is going to sound crazy, but I see things sometimes. People, places, events...things that haven't happened yet, but will. Now, I'm not a mutant, but I can see the future. I'm not a pro with it; most times it only comes in bits and pieces. Other times, I get a little show, but I don't remember much afterward.

Still other times, I see things that might have happened if I zigged instead of zagged, if that makes any sense." he tells her.

"I was about eight or nine when it started."

	"Interesting," Syd said. "Considering who I live with, this isn't as shocking as it would normally be. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing yet." She paused for a moment. She wasn't shocked. Avery wasn't sure if his luck was holding or just running out. He decided to let her talk and think it over.

When she said she had an ability, and that she was definitely a mutant, though, a weight lifted off Avery's shoulders. He only spoke about what he could do with his father, who urged him to keep it quiet.

"Oh, well. That's good at least." he said, thinking it over.

"Do you think both of us being able to do something will make Zoey more or less likely to end up with her own...thing?" he asks.

	Syd blushed a little as she always did when paid a compliment. "He's...good." Syd wouldn't really know. She hadn't seen much of Simon in the past few weeks. Movie shoots did take up a lot of time, or at least that's the way it seemed. "Oh, I wanted to ask you if you'd be interested in going to dinner sometime." Did she really just ask him out to dinner?
