Spring in Moscow
Natasha walked slowly through the elaborate gardens on the palace grounds. Her nephew Mikhail had wanted her to sit in on a meeting, but the day was too lovely to not be outside. The sun was a balmy 60 degrees. Natasha smiled as she inhaled the perfumed air and soaked up the warm sunlight. Bright flowers in bloom surrounded her and added to the tranquility of the gardens.

It was much better than sitting in on a meeting.

She had used her pregnancy as an excuse and told her nephew she wanted to nap for awhile. Jet lag and pregnancy not mixing well or something along those lines.

The beautiful setting of the gardens helped to take her mind off of Ivan. The old man's health was in decline and Natasha worried about him. He was in his nineties and still had a sharp mind, but time was catching up to him. His body was beginning to fail him and Natasha and Ivan both knew he didn't have much time left.

There was a tightness in Natasha's chest at the thought of losing Ivan. He had been with her for her entire life and she couldn't imagine life without him. Ivan had been her only family for many decades. He was the only father she had ever known. He was a grandfather to her children.

She was so enmeshed in her inner thoughts she almost didn't notice the small fluttering feeling in her abdomen.

Natasha stopped walking and concentrated. She couldn't have been imagining it. There. Another one. Natasha smiled. The baby was moving and she just felt it for the first time. She just wished Tony could have been here for this. Still smiling, Natasha started walking again.

Tony considered what Tasha meant. He and his father didn't see eye to eye on many things and Tony spent years resenting the old man for a host of reasons. Something in him was working to let go of all that understand that his father was still a great man, despite their differences.

"Maybe it's enough that his surname's attached. I've never been really good with names; you know that. I just...have no idea what I'm doing, aside from being happy about this baby." he smiles.

"How about your father, then?" he asks.

"I know how you are with names," she said. "But you always remembered mine." She hooked an arm around his and started walking with him along the path.

"My father is just a name on a sheet of paper," she explained. "I never knew him and Ivan was the only father I ever knew." She pushed the thoughts about Ivan and his health back. She didn't want to ruin the mood.

"What about naming the baby after you if it's a boy? Either a junior or even your middle name."

	"I think Maria if it's a girl," she said. "After your mother." She thought about the question for a few moments. Did she want to know? Did she need time to adjust to the idea of having a boy or a girl? "I don't know. What about you? Do you want to know?" She looked over at him. Her eyes narrowed. "Anya and Maria." Tony says, considering the idea of having two daughters. One daughter had been an adventure; could he do it again?

Uh-oh. The wife's eyes just narrowed? Did she finally figure out how to read his mind? Or did she suspect him of something?

"Honey, I'm completely fine with whatever you decide. If you want to know, I want to know. If you want to be surprised, which you hate, I want to be surprised." he says.

Tony Stark isn't a young man anymore, but he can still dodge and evade with the best of them.

Not that she would expect him to confess if he did know. Her husband, and daughter for that matter, was usually a few steps ahead of her and she was supposed to be the devious one.

If she said she wanted to know, she almost expected him to pull out a scanner of some sort and tell her right then and there. She was really torn on the issue. Part of her wanted the surprise and part of her wanted to know what she was in store for.

"I think I would like to know. Just so we know what we're in store for."

"Well, if you want to know, I want to know." Tony smiles. "Give me a moment while I find out."

He places his right hand on the upper left side of her stomach, looks at his watch, then moves his hand across her belly to touch the upper right side. He nods at his watch, raises a brow, then lowers his hand to the lower right side of her stomach.

He stops, takes a moment to whisper something to the baby, the moves his hand to the lower left side of her stomach. He nods happily, then smiles again.

"Do you want to tell her, or should I? You want me to? Are you sure? Speak now or forever hold your peace until you're born. Okay, fine. I'll tell her." he says.

"I have reason to believe that we're having a boy." Tony smiles.

"God help us all if he is." Tony says. "We might never know another moment's peace after he turns four."

Tony thought about the idea of a little boy with red hair that couldn't wait to build his first motherboard, or engine. He also thought about a boy that would need a father who loved him, no matter what he chose to do with his life.

Tony wanted to be that man, the man that his own father couldn't be for him.

"You know, it wouldn't be so bad to have another secret agent in the family. It would drive Anya nuts to have her little brother spying on her, or trying to break into her lab.

I promise he doesn't get any armor until he's at least sixteen." Tony says, hand over his heart.

"I don't want any of the kids in the spy business," she said as she leaned into him. She didn't want any of her children in such a dark and ugly business.

"I think a little brother in general will drive Anya nuts and she will adore him just like she does her other brothers."

Natasha eyed her husband. "You better keep that promise. I'm not that rusty that I can't kick your ass."

She smiled.

"I'm happy we're having this baby," she told him.

He looks at Tasha with a smile. "I know, honey. But I've gotten better since our last sparring match. I think I could give you a run for your money."

He pauses for a moment, kissing Tasha on the forehead.

"I am, too, Natasha. Two beautiful children with the most beautiful woman in the world. All the money in the world, all the tech...none of it really comes close to having a family like ours." he says, hugging her close.

	Natasha wrapped her arms around his waist. "Our four kids are pretty amazing and I don't doubt the fifth will be amazing as well. Whatever he decides to do." She smiled and kissed him. Tony savors the kiss, knowing that they won't have many moments like this in a few months when the baby comes.

"I love you, too, Super-Spy." Tony smiles. "There are a lot of days I wake up and don't know where I'd be if not for you and the kids. There are a lot of others where I wake up and I know where I'd be.

I also know I wouldn't like the man I'd be without you." he tells her.

"Oh, remind me to show you the changing station I built for the baby. Definitely didn't want any repeats of the changing issues we had with Anya." he says.

Tony shakes his head. "That's NOT how it happened, Tasha. Reed and I were discussing zero-point energy uses and diapers just happened to come up. Anya went potty without notifying me, then got mad when I didn't just know what was going on." Tony tells her.

"Reed just happened to know a trick for changing diapers, but I didn't pick up on it very quickly. He was explaining it when you came home. But you've never let me live it down." he grins.
