"We are standing here at 207 Bank Street outside the US Embassy in Ottawa where it appears that Alpha Flight, Canada's premier superhero team is attacking. Large sections of the building are being destroyed and even nature itself appears to be attacking as the winds have picked up and large chunks of hail are breaking windows. A member of Alpha Flight zoomed into the building and appeared on the roof with the ambassador. A moment later the member dropped the ambassador and he fell to the pavement below.

Police are on the scene, but are unable to stop Alpha Flight. Police cars and officers have been thrown around and it doesn't appear anything or anyone is going to be able to stop this apparent rampage by Alpha Flight. What has caused Alpha Flight to do this? Why are they doing this? There are too many questions to be answered at this moment.

Wait a minute. What's this? It now appears that the damage is done and lives have been lost, Alpha Flight is leaving the scene. The police aren't giving chase at the moment, but this reporter is sure that the military will apprehend Alpha Flight at some point."

"No ma'am. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, established in the Constitution Act of 1982 tells me what my rights are. What you're talking about is a totalitarian government. I cooperated fully up until the legal point of police privilege, at which point it becomes false imprisonment. If the police persist in holding us past the point where they have proof of our innocence because they want to settle the tempers of the United States, they are terrorists. I can quote the statues in three languages.... I sound really sexy when I do it in French. Go ahead and tell me my rights again."

Dodging is not really Jordan's thing, so he takes the hit, only staggering back a little with no signs of appreciable damage.

"Hey, hey, hey, really? You're going to attack me because I can make Canadian law sound hot? Or you just have something against our country's laws, hm? I mean, sure, the progressive-conservative agenda is obscene, but its hardly porn. And even if it was, I only read the constitution for the articles."

Yes, he's baiting her. Keeps her off the others, and she's faster than he is. She's not hurting him, but this could be a stalemate for a long time if he can't get her to make a mistake.

He keeps his guard up, keeping his stance and waiting for a mistake, since there's no way he can outrun her.
"She'd sigh exhasperatedly and just be glad that I find time amidst being a smartass to read the law of the nation. Which, incidentally, you're still on the wrong side of. Personally, I'd rather be a wiseass to people who attack me and inform me that Canada is now a dictatorship than participate in illegal imprisonment... which you are. I can live with my mouthing off... can you live with yourself?"

He braces himself, but still ends up staggering forward, bracing himself for further attacks.
"The second we begin to strip people of their rights according to our fears is the day we're no better than any other oppressive nation. I surrendered peacefully and demanded my team do the same because I believe in our system of government, and fight to uphold it. Do you /really/ want to tell me you believe in a system that informs me that because I'm a mutant, I'm guilty despite proof of innocence? That holding me accountable means holding me prisoner at the whim of accusers I can't face, and am not given opportunity to disprove?"

He takes a guess, given her behavior. "You obviously have extranormal abilities. What if one of your kids is a mutant? Should they have to attend special school? Wear an ankle bracelet so the government should track them? Not be permitted the rights afforded to them because they're Canadians? Do you /really/ want to go home and tell them you'd uphold that?"
