Two days in New York City
Jenny was happy to conveniently forgot her scheduled appointment with Dr. Samson, but leave it to Rob to have it on his calendar. The day before, she was notified that she would be collected at 6am and delivered to the S.H.I.E.L.D. transport for the New York run.

She tossed a few items into her shoulder bag along with a new book. She didn't need anymore than that as Rob had kept their leased apartment in New York. Between his monthly trips back to New York and her infrequent traveling, he said it was worth hanging onto it. Everything she might need was already there.

A note was posted on the refrigerator so the team would know she would be in the States for a couple of days. She also included a post script asking Leech to make sure Yankee Clipper was fed. She really hoped Quinn would continue to be tolerant and not turn YC into a fluffy orange and white throw pillow.

In New York, she had time to shower and change clothes before presenting herself at Dr. Samson's office promptly at 3pm. Each time she had one of these appointments she hoped it would be the last. Each time he said he would see her again in three months. At least this time she would have something different to contribute to the conversation.

It's Andy's turn to blush as she sings his praises to the waiter.

"She makes it easy for me." Andy tells him in response.

"So, what are you having? I'm definitely going with the omelet." he says. "And whatever you have, I'm probably going to taste test, just to make sure it's safe." he smiles.

"My hero! I'll have the corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, and sourdough toast," she told the waiter. "And orange juice, please."

She still held Andy's hand. Clung to it, and pretended time wasn't counting down.

"I want to know why you think your choice in books will be boring. Rob only reads political thrillers and I haven't yet figured out what's thrilling about them."

"It really depends on the political thrill. Tom Clancy can do no wrong in this area, especially when the story involves Jack Ryan. I haven't found another writer that really comes close to the amount of knowledge and detail he puts into his stories." Andy says.

He looks to the waiter. "I'll have the ham and cheese omelet with a side of pancakes and an apple juice, please."

Jenny's hand was warm, and he squeezed it gently three times, smiling.

"As for me...I like a lot of fantasy and mythological books. Stuff about the gods. Especially since I have a good idea of which parts are and are not true. I also like some of the other fantasy series like A Song of Ice and Fire and Wheel of Time.

Big books and long series do not scare me the way they would most people." he says.

"A lot of the books I've read in the last few years have been nonfiction." She kind of shrugged. Admitting she had to relearn what every child learned in school was a little on the embarrassing side. "Everything was gone. I could read, but I had no idea who the first president of the United States was or the current one."

"I did read the Wheel of Time series. Fantasy and science fiction are sort of a vacation from the nonfiction for me. It doesn't matter how long a series is or how big the book. I'm still catching up. I also love mysteries."

"That must have been really tough for you." Andy says. "Did any thing click when you started learning again or has the whole thing been one new process?" he asks.

"Not one thing was familiar. I had a tutor for six months to help me 'remember', but I learned everything from scratch. It wasn't all grim. I get to read all sides of a subject and not deal with any programmed teaching."

"You know, I never really thought of it like that. It does give you an advantage over people who've pretty much been told The Way It Is their whole lives and never given any further information to go on." Andy says.

"Do you like pulp or no pulp in your orange juice?" he asks at random.

"Rob nearly choked when it turned out that I also needed a refresher lecture in birth control and reproduction. It's had some entertainment value."

Jenny was getting used to the random questions. "Medium pulp. I like it in my juice, but not too much of it."

Andy nearly chokes on his apple juice when she says that. He manages to avoid a spit-take, and laughs a little.

"Wow. I didn't think about you needed to go over all of that stuff again, either." Andy says. "Did you find it embarrassing, funny, or no big deal?" he asks.

"I'm sure no older brother wants to think of his sister with a guy...like that." he says, turning a light shade of red.

Jenny grinned at his reaction. "I think I had the same expression that every eleven year old must have when they hear the basics - total disbelief. I was given biology and human sexuality books to read. After that I agreed it was probably true, especially since it was happening to me. It didn't really click until the tutor tried romance books."

She smiled at the waiter as he set plates in front of them. Conversation paused while she waited for the man to leave.

"I was still mentally an adult, just with a blank slate
on a lot of subjects. Rob had to deal. Not that he's had to much. You're the first date I've had since waking up." She leaned over to check out his breakfast before giving him a mischievous smile. "Meeting you was worth the wait."

Andy grins. "You're really the first girl I've been able to see myself going this far with, Jenny. We have fun, we talk, and we both like cheesecake."

He smirks after the last comment.

"We're good together." he says, cutting off a piece of the omelet and gently pushing the fork to her lips.

"Would you like a bite?" he asks.

The mention of cheesecake made Jenny's face turn pink and heat ran down her spine. Just like that, he left her breathless.

She accepted the offered bite.

"Very good," she finally said. "But I have to admit, I prefer the combination of cheesecake and demigod."

"Cheesecake and demigod prefer you, too." he grins, taking a bite of his omelet. His eyebrows rose at how good it was. He would definitely come here again when he was in New York again.

"How is the corned beef hash? I don't think I've ever had it before, but it smells good." he says.

"It's the least I can do to show my appreciation for the new taste treat you shared with me." She smiled and offered another bite. "Do you have a weekend breakfast tradition in your family?"

"Mom and I used to do bacon waffles when she didn't have court or wasn't out punching some bad guy in the face and head repeatedly." Andy says.

"I've also gone out and hunted breakfast with my dad and brother, too. But most weekends, I had breakfast by myself." Andy tells her.

Jenny leaned in and kissed his cheek. The mental image of young Andy (not small, surely he'd never been that) made her a little sad.

"Next time, I have another place I want to share with you. The best stuffed sour cream blinis you'll ever have. You will give me anything I ask once I introduce you to blini delights."

"You think you'll have to go as far blinis, do you? Well, I'm interested now." Andy grinned.

"Keep eating. I need another image to commit to memory." he says.

Cheeky smirk. "You have no idea how far I'll go to spoil you with my favorite things."

She returned to her meal, reminded how little time they had left. When the waiter put the bill down between their plates, she immediately reached for it.

Andy reaches out to catch her hand, lacing his fingers with hers.

"I would appreciate it if you let me take of it this time. I did stay at your place for three days and all. I'll get this one, and you get the next one? That way we have yet another reason to see each other again." Andy says.

His mother raised him to forget the silly notion of not letting a woman pay, but his father also raised him to be as chivalrous as possible.

He, of course, turns on his best puppy-dog expression at this moment to ensure he gets his way.

The puppy dog expression gains him a lot with her. She can't resist, but she can strike a deal.

"Your word, handsome?"

"Very well. You have my word that, at our next meeting, you can pay for the meal." Andy says.

"Of course, we've got to seal this deal with a kiss, or it won't be legal." he smiles.

"I'm fond of your skills in deal-making, myself." Andy says, kissing her quickly, then going back to his food. He offers her bites of his omelet if she wants more, but spends the meal smiling at her and simply enjoying her company.

He has no clue how he's going to get through the next month, but he'll find a way. Maybe he'll even let Titan out more.
