Meeting of the Minds
Justin's phone got Misha's message not long after he sent it, but Justin had been busy seeing Tina off. Once she was headed off to work, Justin calls Misha back.

"Hey, I'm up to talk when you are. I'll be at the penthouse." Justin says, driving himself back there. Tina's apartment was too quiet without her.

He'll be waiting inside, working on one of his armor's gauntlets when Misha arrives.

"Dad's cool. He'll make me regret later that I kept him out of the loop on something like this, but I can't run the risk that he'll tell Mom. She doesn't need the stress." And he never forgot the lesson she taught him. Avenger issues belong to the Avengers. Mutant issues are the X-Men. Family took a backseat.

"I didn't even ask. Have you finished an armored suit for yourself? If you want to try out the Danger Room, you're going to need it."

"I've been working on my armor when I wasn't working on yours and it's nearly ready to go. Just have to get it armed up and then run some diagnostics. It was pretty beat up after I crashed here a few months ago, but it's in working order." Justin says.

"Yeah, I know how that is. My dad and I used to have to keep Mom out of the loop on a lot of things. She didn't like us having to go out so often." he says.

"Mom and Dad have an agreement that Dad would tell Mom what I was up to and make sure she was in the loop while I was growing up, but there's always been a line. Separate families. Me and Dad. Anya and Stark. It's still me and Dad, and David and Rose now. Mom made her choice and she has her own family with Stark now."

Juice, yes. He poured himself a glass of apple juice. "Being a mutant draws another line. This is one of those lines. I don't want Dad to tell Mom for her own protection, and I don't want to put him in a position of having to make that choice. They have a good friendship. It shouldn't be strained because of me."

Justin nodded as Misha spoke. Ouch. He couldn't imagine how much it sucked to have a parent choose their other family over the one they had with you. In a way, Justin kind of felt like that about his current Dad and Pepper. There was no logical reason for it, of course, but that didn't stop him.

"Hey, no need to justify it to me, Misha. I understand. Your mother is at a critical stage in her pregnancy and you don't want to jeopardize that. And if they've got that kind of friendship, they'd be bound to tell each other anything important.

"Let's just hope that, by the the time you have to tell them anything, you can also tell them that you've handle things and there's nothing more to worry about." Justin says.

"Not justifying. Explaining. We're a weird little group." He finished his juice. "It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission. That works with Mom. Not with Dad. That's why we keep quiet. We're a couple of guys working on armor and asking to use the Danger Room. That's logical and it'll sharpen our skills. They're all for that.

"You up for the flight there? I left Darlene in the institute garages. She was busy bossing David by telling him what to do about his new car. I didn't have the heart to ruin her fun."

"The girlfriend totaled hers, and decided it would better if I drove the new one she bought until she felt okay behind the wheel again. If the logic baffles you, I understand. "We just have to make sure your dad doesn't decide to take up hacking and go into the server we set up at Xavier's. Him seeing all of that won't help us keep it secret from him."
